Re: Best war film in the world ever ever - I luv 1
The Odd Angry Shot - a classic
Platoon - except the tracers look wrong- strangely like fireworks
Liked Band of Brothers too.
Anybody remember some play on BBC years ago about patrolling in Ulster...can't remember much about it except a lot was filmed thru an IWS (his was in the days everyone was caryying SLRs)...it might have been pants, but I seem to remember it seemed convincing ?

Contact ?
Based on A.F.N Clarkes wee book.
The teleplay suffered from having been somewhat "cleaned up" with regard to some of the more hardcore "Paddy Bashing" a practise that I'm surprisingly unopposed to.
B.BHMS Queen Elizabeth. Fitted for but not with airyplanes.

Harry's Game *for a few dodgy accents whilst were on the NI theme.
Also Patriot Game (Bean/Sharpe) for another dodgy accent.
The 15 minute automatic gun battle in 'HEAT' gets the prize.
Can't beat our 'Sharpey' for embarresing you officers though.. he he "Yu turn coat bastard! Pat, lets 'ave 'im!" but he was bollox in 'RONIN' and that crappy 'BRAVO TWO ZERO' which was total arse. and other superlatives.I'd rather watch your mum in the shower...

I don't suppose Sean "Gritty Northerner" Bean can spell embarrassing either.
On the theme of war movies I wonder if any of these grease paint pansies ever see the irony of playing soldiers when they have never actually worn uniform themselves, except perhaps for a MacDonalds outfit when they were struggling actors. *John Wayne famously never overcame his feelings of guilt that, while other Hollywood actors actually fought in WWII, his service was confined to the silver screen.I'm not sure about this brew b***h business!

Quite simply one is disappointed that there yet to be a mention of two of the all time greats -
Carry on Up the Kyber! *Ah, that whole kilt lifting sceen - they don't make 'em like that anymore! *Mustafa Leek! *Ho ho ho.
Angels One Five - fantastic! *Plus my Mum's in it!
(or maybe Charge of the Light Brigade with David Hemmings - good to see light cav do what they do best!)Lasing...ooch, that's gonna' hurt!

I'm disapointed by the general standard of response offered to the original question. There seems to be a general fixation with recent Hollywood productions of totally implausible and historically innacurate Skirmishes.
I would have thought that some of you eggheads (who seem to have an awful lot of spre time whilst on JCSC) would have suggested something like Waterloo.
Get a grip and lets have some quality suggestions!Schimf!

What about A Bridge Too Far - OK, OK forget the whole 'detah from above' issue - great cast and Micheal Cain, Ed Fox, Sean Connery, Tony Hopkins and Dirk Bogarde - really jolly good stuff. (esp Grds Armd Div!)
Lasing...ooch, that's gonna' hurt!
