Re: Top 3 war films
Thanks to IMDB
Escape from Sobibor (1987) (TV)
Sobibor, 14 octobre 1943, 16 heures (2001)
The 2001 version is a documentary based on an interview with one of the survivorsIt's all eggs bacon, beans and a fried slice but don't quote me on that
Is it Gene Hunt? Is he kicking in a nonce?

I almost forgot - for its fantasy value, all-star cast and for being the inspiration for my hugely successful military career:

I cannot believe Reach For The Sky has not been mentioned. The biographical story of fighter ace Douglas Bader who lost both legs in a plane crash.
his best quote ever being: Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise menYou know, some days even my lucky rocketship underpants don't help

Re: Top 3 war films
Good movie and a fine performance by Kenneth More. However, a bit wide of the mark as Bader, although undeniably a bally hero, was widely regarded as an obnoxious c0ck with little or no regard for his men. Upon meeting other people, the first thing he took into consideration was their badge of rank. Then again, maybe that's why he helped to win the war.

Is that the one set in a derelict building in the desert looking forward to the Second Front, features Orders pinned to the wall with a live round and it goes on about Umpetty Poo (Un petit peux)?

Best war movies
Following on from the worst war movies thread whats your best war movies?
My nomination is Stalingrad German film made in early 90's of a still tabbo topic in Germany at the time accurate uniforms and locations
(shot in parts in Finnish Artic circle) for me one of the 1st recent films were they tried to have as much accuracy as possiable
Kelly's Hero's totally false story line but some great lines and odd ball is class
