Re: Worst 3 war films
"The Bofors Gun" aint a war film either, it's set in BAOR in the 1950's. Having said that it's a very good film indeed, a real psycho-drama and should be compulsory viewing for all potential NCO's I reckon!

Re: WWFE (Worst War Film Ever)
These have already been nominated, but 'Pearl Harbor' (Favourite line - 'Hey, I guess WWII just started!'), 'Rules of Engagement' (which seems to have been the main training aid for the US Army prior to deployment to Iraq in 2003) and - the crap de la crap - 'The Green Berets'. An honourable mention is 'Paris Brule T'il?' ('Is Paris Burning?') where the French tried to claim that they liberated their own country in 1944.
Worst - not as in bad, but horrifying - is the Russian film 'Idti i Smotri' ('Come and See'), with very realistic scenes of Nazis butchering Soviet peasants.
Fun, but ludicrous - Errol Flynn in 'Charge of the Light Brigade' where - for reasons too complicated to explain - the leader of the Indian Mutiny (who has treacherously butchered women and children) is in the Russian lines, and Flynn lances him before he dies. A major achievement, seeing as the Crimean War was 1854-1856, and the mutiny began in 1857.

They Who Dare - crap from start to finish! I only watched it right through from morbid fascination.

Agreed, saw it for the first time a few months ago and was very impressed.

IIRC, the Big Red One shows the US Army get its ass handed to it at Kasserine, thats where the Sergeant is captured after his squad runs away, and he's rescued by a British Commando raid on Tunis while in Hospital.

Re: WWFE (Worst War Film Ever)
Spec Ops? If you are serious about writing a book you shouldn't refer british special forces as Spec Ops - its all too septic

Re: WWFE (Worst War Film Ever)
Its probably already been mentioned but can't be fecked reading all the pages again.
The only "war" film that was so bad I had to switch off: "American Soldiers: A Day in Iraq". Awful, just bleedin awful.A sadly maladjusted non-entity.

Re: WWFE (Worst War Film Ever)
Can I suggest Anzio, biggest load of old cobblers I have ever had the misfortune to watch , along of course with The Green Berets which has the glorious line when all is going down the pan of "Move out". Desperate!!
