Harry's Game,I think I actually bought it after reading something positive about it on here. Very predictable ending,a waste of 8 or so quid.

Lots of awful North Irish accents too,almost as bad as that Gerry Adams' attempt at sounding Irish!

apparently, Tom Cruise is ' prepping' Top Gun II. I've no idea what the script is about or where he's supposed to be doing his ' derring do' - probably Iraq if they want it to be ' topical '...[ though how he ' triumphed over the much-vaunted Iraqi Air Force ' will be a stretch of the ' suspension of disbelief ' concept.] Sadly, I don't know what ' tottie du jour' will play the love interest, and frankly, have no desire to ' google' anything to find out.

this is posted as a warning to all ' war film' aficionados not to waste their money when it comes out.. I'm thinking this isn't even worth a Blockbuster free rental coupon let alone a dump bin dive at Walmart...

Many WWII films, especially those made in the early parts of the war, were to boost the morale of the people (We, wern't winning at the time.) and sell war bonds, etc.

So, if you want the real facts and actions of a battle or action, ask a few Veterans of that war or battle. One can't really depend on written history either, especially in these 'PC' days!

Nor can you depend on movie critics, whos politics enter into their assesment of the movie.

BTW: Just watched 12 O'Clock High tonight, for the (?) time! It was still a great movie!

12 O'Clock High is a magnificent movie. The bit at the start where the old adjutant buys the jug on his holiday to East Anglia and visits 'Archbury' is extraordinary. As he stands on the overgrown runway and the grass begins to move in the propwash of B17s from years before it never fails to send a shiver down my spine.

That's some film - and an excellent combat leadership lecture.
