Discuss Films About Northern Ireland in Films, Music and All Things Artsy on The Army Rumour Service; Patriot Games . Highly realistic US take on the Troubles. Who would have thought that senior members of Republican splinter groups would sit & watch Harry's Game and be so fond of Enya?...

To eat well in England one must have breakfast three times a day

    Somerset Maugham

London: its "buzz" and "vibrancy"... can be codewords for drugs, late-night noise and multi-culturalism run (literally) riot.

That divot Sean Bean played a "nasty nasty" IRA type, with his predictably bad accent .

I actually enjoyed it, not sure how close it was to the book but still entertaining none the less. The opening few minutes around the VCP I still think of as the best intro to a movie/tv production I`ve ever seen.

Yes, but it did have the magnificently redheaded Polly Walker in it in her pants...

Feck me, hadn't realised she was Atia in Rome as well. Also in State of Play - MrsPlume out tonight so might have to watch that as well!

I vaguely remember some made for TV film based around a para platoon patrolling some NI city in the eighties, was it part of the Screen 2 series on BBC2? There was a squaddie who topped himself with an SLR in the barracks, a riot scene where a young officer nearly got fragged and some special branch goings on intertwined - was a very long time ago but remember it being half alright

Game of thrones, a dark look at the troubles set in a alternative medieval universe. Ok I'm talking shite, but it Is filmed here in northern Ireland, and has Sean bean in it. Can't say I have ever seen a decent film about northern Ireland that doesn't include some sort of predictable universal northern Irish stereotype.

Is that the one where the regiment wore black tankie berets with a subdued parareg badge on it?

Only caught the last bit of it on the telly years ago and have often wondered what it was called.

It didn't look half bad if my memory serves me correctly.
    You're all puffs.
