Saw Downey's Holmes 2 - 'Game of Shadows ' just before New Year - yes it is......a full blooded period romp....good scene of Watson ( played by Jude Law) getting absolutely sh1t-faced on his stag night wearing RAMC walking out dress ........some good jokes.......a very believably intellectual but nasty Moriarty..and of course a brief showcasing of the early semi-automatic Mauser 98 Bolo......which can only be a good thing ! ( yes....sad isn't it...never mind)

In the book, Dr Watson is a survivor of Maiwand.....and has some low-level residual trauma issues as a result, as well as the celebrated gammy leg. I'm guessing the modern-day Doc would have been with 3 PARA in Sangin ......

Mark Gatiss as Mycroft was an excellent case study in Aspergers imho.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who made this mental link.....Cumberbatch to my mind actually LOOKS like an Asperger's case :
