My favourite song of WW2, Lilli Marlene, by Lale Andersen, a few years ago I loaned two sheets of 'Lilli' music to a 'Lilly Marlene Exibition' in Bonn,
one by 'Billy Cotton' and the other by 'Judy Shirley', Ann Shelton did a nice version too. I received a very nice 'Thank you' letter from the German veterans.

Written during WWI but surely there's only the one definitive version?
I bought a military watch. It didn't tell me the time, it told me to get my hair cut.

Well, you can't beat class, can you? Jaisus, she must be about a hunnert years old now. That's some going, and well done to her.

Still a young thing in her 90's
And still making records? Now that really is phenomenal!

Bugsy,
You are a bit of a cnut - that is so funny. :D
That was entirely unintentional, Josey. I genuinely thought Dame Vera had recorded some new songs. But when I had a butcher's on t'internet, I found out that she's just re-released all her old favourites (not that I've any problem with that, of course).
Which doesn't take away from her spectacular achievement, for apparently she's the oldest person ever to be at No I. So hearty congrats indeed on that, Dame Vera, and may you enjoy an even longer life, ma'am.
