Point Break, smashing film after a few pints - bank robberies, surfing, shootouts and another charismatic performance from Keanu Reeves. There is a great bit where he's chasing Patrick Swayze through some houses, and gets a guard dog thrown (!) at him. Being an all star american football player he does the only decent thing and kicks it from his hands á la punt.

Interestingly it was directed by Kathryn Bigelow who then went on to do The Hurt Locker... she's come on a bit in 20 years.

I am referring to that monstrosity of a film..."The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy", which has to be the worst version imaginable!! Douglas Adams must have been paid a shitload of money to allow his classic to be bastardised in this way?? For some reason the producers felt it necessary to change half the characters, alter the story and remove the comedy. The only tribute to the original and best (BBC) version, is a cameo appearance by the original Marvin the paranoid android, at the offices on the vogon homeworld (not in the book). A modern classic, destroyed to accomodate a foreign market...Do not subject yourselves to this pathetic effort!!!!!!

DON'T PANIC!...Get the original BBC TV series, and see how a small budget adaptation, can piss all over a multi million pound debacle. Or do yourself an even bigger favour, and acquire the original BBC radio series! Everything that is good about the story is contained therein, and you will find yourself constantly laughing out loud at one of Aunty's best productions ever!!
Agreed. It really is the sort of comedy that only works well on radio, since the imagination is much better than seeing it as something designed for screen.
In fact, most comedy works better on the wireless than on the screen.

Just seen this on Saturday. Spot on, I was wondering who he reminded me of and you nailed it. I enjoyed the film, the only pesky bit being my "dodging" some of the stuff on screen. That was a tad embarassing.

DVD: Bought Planet Earth about a week ago. Fantastic and a reminder of why I think the licence fee is a sound idea.

Just watched The Hurt Locker and Rambo 4 to round it off. Both good films although Rambo was abit of a short film

Which was, in itself, a remake of a film 'The Last man' based on the book, 'I am legend' and starring Vincent Price. Made in around 1955 ( mind hazy on this) and a surprisingly good film, considering it was made for about £3 7/6d

Edited to add; was actually called 'The Last Man on Earth' and made in 1966. Still cost less than £4 I guess.

Well worth a couple of hours of your time IMHO.
I didnt rate this at all tbh - for me, they may as well have just made another Bourne film. Bond is supposed to be a bit cartoony and larger than life, surely? the car chase was good, but the rest of it was very blah IMHO.
That was my feelings about this film as well.
