sandy, you should watch "never back down" - a cheesy love rivalry flick built around UFC / gracie jiu jitsu. bit like fight club but without the gritty nastiness in the fights.

then you can strangle me for wasting 90 mins of your life you'll never get back ;)

    "When trumpets fade"!

Good film by the Americans and not "gung ho" shows the horror and lack of organisation in the weeks after D-Day

its about the battle of hurtgen forest WW2 and the needless waste of life sending troops in over and over again to be slaughtered

    cannon fodder at its finest!!

    but worth a watch!!

Finally got around to watching "Cloverfield" last night, it was OK, if you liked the Godzilla style movies from the 70's!

Two old favorites from me this week courtesy of ITV 4

First Blood John J's finest outing as he shows an American town what would happen if they ever have Brit troops on exchange posting (although in fainess there would be less shooting and more drinking but it would end up in the same condition) :D

Magnum Force Clint showing some whipper snappers he's still boss along with the classic:

"Captain I know this sounds stupid but can you actually fly this plane"
"Nope never had a lesson"slams on and proceeds to punch hijacker sensless

Ahh they don't make em like they used to
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

Just watched 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'. Very different from the original but not a bad movie with some reasonably good special effects. Worth a watch.

Years ago it was suggested that an apple a day kept the doctor away. But since all the doctors are now Muslim, I've found that a bacon sandwich works best.

I hate all this terrorist business. I used to love the days when you could look at an unattended bag on a train or bus and think to yourself; I’m having that.

"V for Vendetta" again (I was away from home, the Mrs wasn't with me, and I didn't fancy a night in Chester by myself). I know that it wasn't huge at the cinema, but I think that it's a totally awesome film (and the comic novel is brilliant too).

    The end is is stunning.

Just finished watching Freaky Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lyndsay Lohan.... Pass the tissues (and not because I'm crying after it!)
    LUCK (Dennis McHarrie)

I suppose they'll say his last thoughts were of simple things, Of April back at home, and the late sun on his wings; Or that he murmured someone else's name, As earth reclaimed him sheathed in flame. Oh God! Let's have no more of empty words, Lip service ornamenting death! The worms don't spare the hero; Nor can children feed upon resounding praises of his deed. 'He died who loved to live,' they'll say, 'Unselfishly so we might have today!' Like hell! He fought because he had to fight; He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.
