    Bel Ami,

Tale set in France of an ex army NCO (floppy haired chap from Twilight) sleeping his way to the top. Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas provide the ladder. I had to go as part of deal with the Mrs. It was as bad as I thought, send your women to this on their own is my advice.

'Mrs Henderson Presents' thoroughly recommended. Judy Dench superb (as always) supported by Bob Hoskins. It tells the story of the Windmill theatre (We Never Clothed!) and contains belly laughs, pathos and a tit or five.

    Last film?
Pirates - Adventure with scientists. Took our smaller Comedy Dave duo. Great film. works on all levels. Slightly too long I thought. Nevertheless, great all round entertainment.

Just caught up with the last two instalments of the Swedish/Danish film-noir; "The Bridge" on BBC iPlayer. Excellent series and twisty turny like a twisty turny thing.

'Beneath Hill 60'. Oustanding and really gripped my 14 year old lad's imagination as he's off on a school trip to the WWI battlefields next week and will actually be visiting Hill 60 and the Messines Ridge.

'War Horse'. Utter shite. I should've given up at the point where a British soldier shouts 'gas, gas, gas!' and disco smoke erupts from the walls of the German trench they'd just occupied. One of the worst films I've ever seen.

The year - 1966 is a bit of a clue. The period when anyone in the film industry irrelevant of skill in the profession especially West of the Pecos was on drugs. LSD has a lot to answer for. Simples really............................

My review of the book, in a nutshell.

And folk think it's some kind of 'historical' tale. It's not, it's Black Beauty with blank ammo.

Pretty much as you expected from the first three films. Good fun imo

I've just watched 'Warhorse' and thought it was rather good, not a great film but it was ok.
