Shadowheart, a modern Christian western so bad it will bring converts flocking to Allah.
That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!

Just watched The Mechanic It's a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film and a rather poor one at that.
Mr Statham does all his tough guy stuff as usual and there are things that go bang and splat. The best scene involved a kitchen waste disposal unit and Mr S ruined that by not stuffing the screaming daughter's hand into it
I'd rate it 2 Mushroom headsGet orf moi Land!

The Wild Geese.
Bloody brilliant. Richard Burton in classic grumbly voice.
I haven't watched it for a couple of years but glad I did again.
Best compilation was their training in the compound and, for me, the most moving part is when the RSM calls RB by his first name for the first time ever just as he is about to cark it. Gets me every time.per vires quod dolus

I watched it last night, with the family. Now, I have read the book any number of times - the first three times just to unravel the plot sufficient to say I understood how Smiley pieced it all together - and listened to it (unabridged, read by the author) at least twice. I am in no doubt that it is one of the very finest pieces of modern English literature.
So I was trepidatious (to put it mildly) about the likelihood of Hollywood (or even Pinewood, for that matter) doing it any kind of justice in a movie of less than 6 hours (remember the excellent BBC TV version? I have that as well!
)
Our verdict? I was impressed by the way they managed to truncate the tale*, without losing all of its essence, and wifey and 3 adolescent boys (the kind who think Transformers shoulda got an Oscar) watched intently and followed the plot from start to end.
OK, the subtext (Le Carre interweaves subplots/themes of betrayal on a number of different levels, in this and most of his other books) only gets cursory attention, but that's to be expected.
Bloody good movie, all in all.

Oddly enoough, my 14yr old No. 3 son alerted me to this movie about 12 mths ago. He too was mesmerized and fascinated by the special fx. In my innocence, I recorded the next available showing - and was alerted by the TV listings, to the 'oo nasties' in it: so I gave it a quick once over. Somehow, he seems to have completely tuned out the nasty bits.
I wonder if he's a budding psycho?
