Fuck Buttons - Sweet Love for Planet Earth
Starts off nice and sweet but gets a bit wrenched and screamy as it builds up and becomes louder - in the nicest possible way. Like a phucking good storm.

In keeping with my Japanese mood, I bring to your ears a composer who, much like the estimable Morricone, is probably best known for his sound tracks: Joe Hisaishi

Wolfgang Windgassen !!!! lets rip in Solti's complete Der Ring der Nibelungen (easy for you to say!) but can't find his Forest Murmurs which are a little special.. so this will do: YouTube - Siegfried's Tod & Trauermarsch Wolfgang Windgassen
Oooh note 6'10" for CON DUCT ING"As we moved slowly through the outskirts of the town we passed row after row of little grey slum houses running at right angles to the embankment. At the back of one of the houses a young woman was kneeling on the stones, poking a stick up the leaden waste-pipe which ran from the sink inside and which I suppose was blocked. I had time to see everything about her - her sacking apron, her clumsy clogs, her arms reddened by the cold. She looked up as the train passed, and I was almost near enough to catch her eye."

Glad you liked that CoT, he's very goood! Anyhoo just a brief visit this morning, taken from the soundtrack 2009 Oscar Winning Film "Departures" (Okuribito) by Yojiro Takita, once again composed by Hisaishi. If you like cellos you'll love this, I'm only posting a couple of tracks off the soundtrack, but I seriously recommned you listen to the rest of it, it's wonderful:

Exquisite applies here"As we moved slowly through the outskirts of the town we passed row after row of little grey slum houses running at right angles to the embankment. At the back of one of the houses a young woman was kneeling on the stones, poking a stick up the leaden waste-pipe which ran from the sink inside and which I suppose was blocked. When I have time I shall dig out the youtube links but:
Handel's Messiah
Mozart Requiem
Sibelius's Karelia - particularly 'Alla Marcia'
Saint-Saen's Organ Symphony
Prokofiev - some pearls amongst the Lieutenant Kije suite, and I'll never grow out of Peter and the Wolf.
Holzst - The Planets Suite

Insomnia and nightmares are a bastard, but I have The Jade Dream and Lin Dai to sooth my soul.
YouTube -We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.
