Re: Interview with Falklands MC Winner

Some of the comments on the Hull Mail site have angered me slightly.
    http://www.thisishullandeastriding.c...#StartComments

Yes he shouldn't have mascaraded himself as a decorated paratrooper, but he as far as I know didn't steel any money and worked for free to raise funds for the british legions poppy appeal.

I think the Hull Daily Mail should be ashamed of themselves for making this man fee like a criminal.

He knows what he's done and has walked away without a fuss so leave him be.

There are far worse people who should be named and shamed in our city for actual crime, this chap just wanted to help a charity. Rich, east hull
Another reason not to support the poppy appeal ..the kind of people you are supporting are heartless and think they are better than anyone else.
This guy may be dillusional but what harm did he do ? he was helping out what he believed to be a good cause and has been slated for it .
Have you stopped to think that he may genuinely believe his stories? Or that he did serve sometime and suffered an injury ? In which case is it such a bad thing that he wants to help?
Perhaps it is time this elitest group stuck to raising funds in their own group because quite frankly I am sick of hearing how amazing they are !

I never normally eat popcorn at this time of day.. munch munch, but I've had enough during the last three pages put me off lunch. So entertaining, but I've just remembered that it's not the NAAFI Bar..pity.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
    Alternatively, put stacker1 on ignore.

I didn't say it was your fucking fault, I said I was blaming you.

Oh God, one of the best and funniest posts was scuba frog sorting you all out....fucking priceless.

I'm so smashed by it, I think I imagined that bit. Oops.

You have every right to be angry DGSx.

The guy might have been old, and maybe a bit touched in the head, but he was caught red handed decieving people into believing he was something he wasn't.

Some of the bloody spelling was enough to make me angry

But you get that . Usually written by the Walt themself saying things like " Oh I know the person in question , they've had a terrible life but they're a decent sort really . Please leave them alone etc "
Not to be confused with Spenny from Edinburgh

Fally, did you get up to Lyneham and see Jack B? Drop him a line mate, the old cnut has just had his 50th B'day and I'm sure he would like to be reminded. :D

Rarden Reaper, didn't he want to fight you and Reni before his posing pics came to light?
He did. And me - I was extremely flattered to be honest - as he thought I was one of the Para Regt. gang. (much to 5A's annoyance no doubt)

The beret and the medals weren't necessary in order for him to raise money for the poppy appeal. This is all down to his personal insecurity.

Happens in virtually every thread these days
By the time it gets edited it'll be about 3 pages long
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

The '4,000 tons' thread was refreshingly devoid of the usual, so it is possible!

    Increasingly unlikely, perhaps, but possible

    To the Gentleman in Question:

Now that you have been outed, you will not be able to show your face again at public events. Fear not! Here is the plan:

Next year, turn up at the Hereford appeal in a black ninja suit, balaclava and desert boots. Hide several large knives conspiciously around your person. Don't give name, rank or number - just cultivate an air of mystery.

The punters will be throwing money at you.

I agree. Though in 90% of cases it is the non-Airborne types who start the slagging. For what reason I can only guess. Jealousy and lack of brains I should imagine.

I would say I'd like to know how my Regiment is supposed to be full of thickos. I should imagine all those going line infantry who are too stupid must get told they are to go into the 'Paras' instead. To that end no Paras are volunteers. They obviously get dicked by the ACIO. Alternatively this could be a load of shite considering it is quite a big step to volunteer for a Regiment which has such an arduous selection process.
Are you a para? I would never have guessed. You never seem to mention your service. Good for you, it's a hell of an achievement and it's so nice to read posts from someone who is so reserved and humble about what they have achieved. Plenty of people, and include myself in this, could learn a lot from the way you carry yourself on this forum.
