I have a feeling the chap was a few rounds short of a magazine! Judging by his reaction, probaly has a mental condition such as Altziemers.

As for the RBL and membership, it depends on where you live. My local one has mainly ex servicemen but also runs a hotel as part of the club, so lets rooms to anyome who pays. Means the bar in the evenings tends to be full of young shopfitters/double glaziers/workmen from down south who are working in the area and need somewhere to stay.

They love it as they get cheap food and beer, the Legion loves it coz they get money for the Legion.

What is dissapointing though is on Rememberence Sunday most of them buger off to Aberdeen rather than stay and support there local parade..grrrr.

How dare you associate the Parachute Regiment with proper Infantry? Anglians rule!

Paras are good at what they do and have long demonstrated that they have the guts to do it. Now sod off. Twat
PBP has a point: When have the para' s done any paratrooping behind enemy lines (what they are supposed to be good at) in Afghanistan? Otherwise have they not just soldiered like all other British infantry regiments against the Taliban? Funny though that most walts seem to want to wear a para cap when playacting at veteran soldiers.
Yeah. And when did the Commando Brigade last storm a beach in land locked Afghanistan? They must be a waste of time too. Don't even start me on those Naval medics that aren't doing their job properly or those MPs that keep getting themselves involved in firefights when they should be out nicking drink driving Muslims. What a bunch of wasters eh?

As you can see from the link below. Badal (GeorgeF) has been chasing medals for a long time. He's basically a walt who is bitter and twisted about today's forces.

Can't blame him . I'm very upset that having spent 10 years in the TA all I got were paid!, all the mortars and automatic weapons to play with that I could ever want, 3 trips to Germany, 1 to Denmark, 1 to Hong Kong, 6 weeks in Canada, numerous helicopter trips and 10 tax free Bounties.

Some of these jammmy sods today get to get shot at and even killed and get a campaign medal on top of it all. It's just not fair

    GeorgeF is a fool.

Yep. What a surprise that anything to do with Paras goes quickly downhill. The jealousy shown on this site by some members is astounding. In a indirect way, it's a compliment.

I think the paras have always been a great source of this country's pride. They,ve never let us down. The level of soldering is superb they have moved with the times. Just to say there has been no call for them to drop into combat yet. Doesn't mean they wont be called upon to do so in the future.

We did look pretty essence bobbing around the oggin in Kajaki though, :D whether specific roles are carried out anymore or not is irrelevant, the very fact that units such as ours train lads for up to a year culminating in a pretty taxing set of tests in pursuit of a coveted bit of headgear and a badge of recognisable importance..and then trained beyond to gain SQ's ect suggests that compared to a bit of tomfoolery at Pirbright and a breezy few weeks in Catterick the rest of you are somewhat lacking :D
