Well. I never got the Jeep. Too much money for a fun toy. Last year I got rid of the P5B as it was an auto and a bit thirsty, and the P6B because I got hacked orf sorting the rear brakes. I'm too bleedin' old to be faffing about under cars, anyway, I do most of my mileage on a Bonnie, it's fast, cheap and fun.So no need for cars.
The other day, being a twat, I was browsing flea bay classic cars, and quite local was a Mini Cooper. Shit. I went and bought it.
There's the grin. It's a bleeding hoot. It's like a possessed skateboard. Goes like shit orf a shovel up to not very much, and corners like it knows the road. Bit cosy, as I'm a big lad, but no problems.
It's sound underneath, but there's a couple of body bits that will need looking at soon. So here's the reason for the post. I can strip back to bare metal, then what's the best thing to prep with? Is Jenolite still about, or is there better stuff around? I'm sure someone knows, (you out there, Taff)
If I can sort it without too much trouble it may be a keeper. Perhaps.

Not sure how many people here are aware but the MG marque was purchased by the Chinese back in 2005 and since then they've launched the MG6 (roughly Focus sized) and today they launched a FIAT 500 / MINI competitor the MG3.

I'm a bit of a MG - Rover fan (yes, they do exist) but the current mob in Longbridge are exceptionally inept so I'm just wondering how many people on this forum are;

A. Aware MG are still making cars

B. Aware that they launched a brand new car today

C. Care that MG still exist and would consider buying one.

I am bemused by the DVLA online system.

I do not have to pay for a replacement tax disc if I renew at 6 monthly intervals but if I want the convenience of a 12 month disc I have to pay £20.

Catch? The DVLA web system does not have a 6 month disc option for this car. Only a 12 month one for which I am expected to pay. The way round it is to use the local Post Office.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen a 6 month option when renewing a tax disc online?

I've already searched with no joy & knowing the unpopular view of 'petitions' are on Arrse maybe even cyclists can jump on the bandwagon with this issue to add clout. Anything that can improve safety awareness on our roads and generally improve driving training standards is always a positive in my book to keep deaths and injuries to a minimum.

I've noticed it's a got a long way to go on the signature numbers but hats off to the person for taking the time to start it.
Extracted from a Biker forum (obviously) views and feedback.

http://www.adventuretravelfilmfestival.com/uk-festival/

This Event is now on its third year in the UK. It is aimed at anyone who is either thinking of/...planning/...or actually doing a trip or a tour, even those those who just love the idea of doing so.... a excursion in a manner apart from the mainstream.

A weekend event, where you park your tent or camper and mix and mingle. The rough guide to the weekend is that there are about 5 showings a day..of 3 or 4 films at a time, and you go to the one that appeals to you.

eg Morning.

1) Screen 1 Kayakers around the Canadian Coast
2) Screen 2 Cycling to China
3) Motorcycling across the Sahara
4) Camera work and sound on a budget.

Night time is an often rare of forgotten showing of a film, where you can drink your Ale or Beer and consume your spitroast pig sarnie.

During the day there are often foraging, cooking, navigation, mechanical repair lessons going on that may be of interest.

it is a cracking event to just mellow out and see what crazy crap other people get up to on their travels.....you do not have to have any travel credentials or feel the need to have done a big trip to feel like a " proper overlander ".

It is open to everyone, so do not think this is a motorcycle type of event....you do get a lot of overlander motorcyles, but it is open to all ( good point too, as us motorcyclist are boring as hell )

http://www.adventuretravelfilmfestiv...ttractions_uk/

HUBB UK 2013 Donington Park - 30th May to 2nd June

This is the big annual meeting of Horizons Unlimited an informal club as such for people who basically travel by bike, motorbike, 4x4 or anything else for that matter.

If anyone is thinking of doing a trip anywhere, this is the place to meet up and ask some questions from other travellers who have been there. A big move this year to encourage the move away from " I must buy a £14,000 bike and accesories and plan the trip for a year " which is utter balls.....You will meet people who have just ridden back overland from China on a little Honda C90 scooter, couples who have sold their home and been cycling the world and others who at the moment are just at the dreaming stage.

Near Donnington.

yesterday, I was driving in town conditions. On the way to where i was going, I heard this horrible clicking sound from the drivers side when I was accelerating at all. It is not there when you idle, although is a bit there when you start the car.

Basically the car cut out at the traffic lights and I couldn't start it again. Had to get someone to help me push it to the side of the road, and then get a mate to tow me home. As the car would not start, it even drained the battery trying.

So I have tried to start it now, and it will start. It just still has this clicking sound. And it's very easy to stall as in it's not got a lot of power.

Any ideas? Don't wanna take it to a garage if it's going to be a big bill as the car is a piece of shit and i'd rather scrap it.
