I saw these on Amazon and thought they would be ideal for ATs to wear as part of their mess kit. THE AAT has recently been trying to flog AT watches at only about £350 a piece. Why would any AT need a watch as they all know that the world revolves around them.

Hi all,

I have searched the web but can't seem to find much information relating to this regiment, is there anyone out there who would be able to give some advice on any of my questions below?

I have applied to join and just waiting for the online BARB test to come through, what score would I need for Seaman/navigator trade?

Also if I was to pass ADSC with a high grade what would be the next likely intake for phase 1 training?

What does Phase 2 training involve and how long is it?

Once at the regiment, what are the deployments like?, to where?, Onboard what? How long/often?

What are the promotion prospects? and civilian qualification gained?

I must add that I am already a qualified MCA commercial skipper in civilian life.

Im just trying to get as much info as I can for my job choices between 17 p&m or the Royal Anglian Regiment as an infantry man.

thanks in advance!

Good afternoon,

I am in need of some advice. I have read thread after thread and have a few unanswered queries I’d appreciate if you could answer.

I am interested in becoming a chef.
Firstly, what is the cooking like – is it varied/feature differing cuisines, fresh produce or from frozen, from scratch, and without offending, is it nice?
Is there an opportunity to have an input on menu suggestions or is it set by those higher up?
Does the budget heavily limit what can be offered?
Is the training on par with that outside the forces – if I ever came to leave, would it stand me in good stead to either gain employment or open my own establishment?
And what duration is the training?
Does anyone know what the work schedules look like – a big benefit of joining up would be the sport and fitness provision, so I was wondering if the shifts interfere with participation.
Finally, the RAF has opened recruitment. What would you say are the main differences between them and the Army, and which would you advise as the best option. I’m assuming the army specialise more in field catering?

I understand that opinions will vary between services, but any advice would be appreciated.
I have looked through countless threads and asked the advice of my local recruiter, but his responses were extremely limited as he had no experience or knowledge beyond the job description.

Thank you for your time, I apologise for the number of questions and anything else you may deem appropriate would be appreciated,

1DPS, now i always thought it was for worthwhile activities/needs and wow betide anyone who isnt in it otherwise hell and damnation be reaped upon you! But, whats this i hear that around £3k of it is spent on the RSM's Cadre of which they run about 2 a year if i remember correctly?
Now obviously to be a RSM you have to be
1. A Trog (well come on, most of them are)
2. Love shiny pacesticks even if they are not the correct ones.
3. Ceased all trade activity after the Class 2 Cse.
4. And of course in the 1 DPS!

My thinking then is if you are a WO1 and remained in the trade stream then are we not missing out on the money we paid in because we dont attend the RSM course? I thought the 1 DPS was run along the same methodology as the PRI fund in that its available for the good and benefit of all the Regt and not just selected few?

For PT why dont we just have a green T-shirt on with RLC emblazoned on the back for all regiments and blue training tops with RLC on the back with all monies raised going to the corp fund. I was also mystified as to why Regiments have little badges/broches to identify themselvesto be worn on working dress and Mess dress is this the norm ? lastly why do 13AA wear maroon T-shirts with uniform not even Reg do that.
