120 soldiers from C Company 1 RIFLES will be marching through Devizes today, along with a contingent of veterans from the RGBW, DERR & Wiltshire Regiments, to exercise the freedom of the Town given to the Wiltshire Regiment in 1949 and passed on in succession to the RIFLES. The RIFLES will march into the Market Place at 1130 (using that silly Light Div quick march no doubt) followed by an inspection by the Mayor and presentation of a freedom scroll. The veterans (using the far more sensible heavy drill) and RIFLES will then march to the War Memorial in Long Street at noon. The Mayor will take the salute and the parade will finish on the Green.

I'm dusting off my blazer and DERR tie and dragging the family along to swell the crowd and support the soldiers of Wiltshire's county Regiment. Hope to see some of you there.

Does anyone have any info on the Royal Gibraltar regiment? It is proving really difficult to find any at all.
I'm looking for information on what they're like.
Is the regiment particularly bullshit orientated or relaxed?
Is it a good life over there in Gib?
Would I do the same infantry training over at ITC Catterick and jump on a plane over to Gib?
Also what are the chances of deployment?
I'm really considering changing them to my second choice as where I would be posted is a big deal for me and the nicer posting the better considering I'll be stuck there for a large chunk of my life.
Cheers in advance

Quick Question... Can't get a straight answer from the tourist websites,

Does the Major Generals Review this Saturday include the full parade down the Mall before and after the Troop?

I'm taking Daughter No1 (6 yrs) to London this weekend for the first time and was thinking of taking her to see Buck House and the Parade as well as the usual touristy stuff. (Her Great Uncle was 1st and 3rd Bn's IG from 1939-47 and shes just starting to take an interest in such stuff- I know 1WG are Trooping this year but does anyone know if the Micks are taking part?).

Many thanks

Regards...PD
