Hi there,

My friend has just joined RMAS in May 2013 intake and has just found the they may possibly have a hernia. They may need to be put in Lucknow Platoon. I was wondering whether one of you could explain to me what this entails? is it based around a normal RMAS day? do they get paid? how long are you allowed to be in it for? and can you join your same platoon or are you always pushed back?
Sorry for all the questions just I am a little worried.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

My regiment has all just been briefed by the RSM on our dress. As it is getting hotter we are being allowed to dress down to T-shirts while doing strenuous work on lines. The catch is that we will only be allowed to do so if we have the regimental T-Shirts, all of which cost about 15£. This has also been extended to P.T. Additionally we are all being ordered to buy core belts, retailing at 20£. These were issued to some in the regiment but not others. And now we have been told that if we want to represent our regiment in any sport we will have to buy a Regimental jacket costing about 50£. Someone raised the issue with the RSM when we were getting briefed, about the belief soldiers didn’t have to pay for kit and couldn’t be forced to buy it. His response was if he received any resistance or reticence in buying the new kit we would all be in barrack dress on every occasion that the new kit would have been on view.
This seems a bit heavy handed, forcing soldiers to pay up to 85£ for kit they need, then threatening punishment if they don’t comply.
It was my understanding (although I don’t know where I got this from) that the army was obligated to provide kit deemed essential, is this the case?

I'm a TA LCpl and, due to some admin cock-ups within the company I have not had my bounty signed off for the last training year - despite meeting the criteria.
I have been advised by our PSI that in order to challenge this I need to write a letter to the CO of the regiment stating the reasons for the challenge.
What I'm after is the correct format that this letter should take; greeting, sign off etc.
Can anyone advise? I've done a search but can only find examples that don't quite fit in with what I'm looking for. I'm not even sure a lance jack SHOULD write to a Colonel directly, but that's what I've been told....

Firstly, this post is not about me, it's about my older brother.

My brother has been in the army for just over a year now and he has never liked it in the army.
He tried to leave numerous times during training and would always felt as though he was bullied to stay in because of the humiliation one of the staff their gave him infront of everyone on parade.
Hoping things would get better once he had finished his training and moved on, it didn't it got worse.
i would always phone him and he'd be so down and depressed but always trying to sound happy ( i knew he wasn't)

Then he told me he had to go see a CPR person to talk to and got told everything was confidential and at the time he had told him he had taken MKAT (drugs) once during leave and then told them he had been self harming and also our Family problems. CPN told him they would try to get him discharged as quick as possible.

My brother is now telling me he is getting C30Alph ( i think sorry guys) and has been infront of the CO for it. Service no longer required he also told me.

Questions:
1) he didn't actually fail any drugs test, and i strongly believe he has said it to try and get out of the army, so how could he be drugs discharged?
2) We live with our Grandma who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, she is his Next of Kin. is she going to receive news on why hes been discharged, or should i break it to her?

He wants to tell her why, but doesn't know when just yet. WE BOTH just don't want our Grandma to just open a letter randomly and it be about this subject if I'm not around her to support her.

Hi, im new to this so just getting to grips.

I have injured my ankle 3 times in the past 5 months as i hadn't let it heal properly (from running). Went to A&E the 3rd time and i haven't broken or fractured anything. They said it's probably just a torn ligament and to rest for awhile. i did sort of, its been nearly 2 months now and in that time i have been cycling and swimming as i had no pain in my ankle and it was getting better. I am now getting back in to running and have been doing 1.5 mile runs mon-wed-friday. so just easing myself back into it. I'm in the process of joining the Army (Parachute Regiment) so need to keep my fitness up.

Can anyone give me any advise on what you think might help my situation??
I have been waiting nearly 4 months to hear about my medical form as my GP messed them up the first time. so its good in away but very frustrating.

Thanks in advance.
