Discuss Army to Police at the Education and Resettlement Courses forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; FFS (Soon to be) (Maybe) Siggie
Stop.
Just Feckin' Stop.
You are way out of ...
I have never met anyone who has asked bone questions about joining the police while still in thinking process of joining the army. They are two seperate services...When I joined the army, like most others on site site, I concentrated on that and that alone. It takes commitiment and dedication to go through basic training and then you are comitted to over four years, in most trades.
For gods sake, walk before you learn to run. If you are so keen, then dont bother with the army, just join the police...but not many forces are recruiting and there is competition for the few vacencies. Judging by what you have posted, I doubt that you would pass the application form stage.
For the record, being in the army does not favour you anymore than it would do any other candidate. And yes I know plenty of people, some ex para, who applied and did not pass the application form stage.
Well i got the answers i came for so i'm not fussed if it was silly tbh.
I see where your coming from saying how im not even in the army n all that but its only for information so i know what my options are when its time to leave.
Its as if some of you don't even know what your going to do when you leave? When you pick your trade do you not think of what job that will be in Civvy St?
Also, for Loggies information, I've passed basic before.
Yes sorry i'm going to shut up now. As a previous poster said, it would actually be nice to make friends on the site, but unfortunately some people want to give me more than information or even constructive critisism.

I wanted to be the next Ron Jeremy, I spent loads of time practising in the forces and everything. Well done for showing commitment the first time you trod on your chosen career path.

It's never too early to ask about resetlement. For instance, I have seven years left before hanging up my truncheon , pausing only to pick up my £115K and two thirds monthly salary. Then I intend to join the Special Ops section at Morrisons, safeguarding the weekly BOGOF promotions.
What sort of 22 year-old electrician has a boring office job, has passed basic training before, has new basic training dates, is going to go para sigs, then get out and join the Police and then get into CO19?
I'm ashamed to say you have provoked me to potty-mouth.............................you have got to be sh*tting me.

PS What's your 1.5 mile time?
The answer would be me...
1.5 is 10.36 at the min, unlike my 8.32 in basic. This is why i'm not worrying about 9.18 for para if thats what your getting at.
Sorry re-reading my comment earlier i see where the problem lies, Im an electrician by trade, and my office job is boring! I sit and plan daily routes for my drivers to go on their rounds. YAWN
What are you on about new training dates??
Who says i'm doing the whole CO19 thing anymore? It's what i wanted to do but seeing input and having people verify answers, I'm sticking to the sigs and taking para as and when it comes along.

This has to be a defining statement of the topic.

Well Chops, i can't say i didnt see that coming... Basically i'd just turned 17 and was overwhelmed with the experience, with the closing point on my contract coming up, i panicked and i left. I don't regret this as i've had some great times and i believe my leaving was justified by said experiences. However now i am ready to start again in a new mind and this is the main reason for the stupid questions, i'm just making sure about what my future holds.
- Just to add, i know BluntSlane is going to say something about my basic being because i was 17. Just incase, i smoked back then and do not now and was running 11 mins at ADSC 1 month before basic.
