I've passed the NEBOSH H&S Diploma and am currently employed in the H&S field- Wages can vary but with a Diploma or equivalent plus chartership you could easily expect 50K + (Down south)
MD- I passed the NEBOSH Env Diploma a couple of years ago-Although not by distance learning looking back on it the tuition was poor so I believe it is possible to achieve it through distance learning- The course provider marks the audit report that you are required to produce (rather than a essay) after taking the 3 hour written exam.
Im looking at the emergency planning diploma next-dull-The company keeps paying and demands continued professional development!

Just found the link below, which is the Diploma marking guide from some or other company that run the Diploma. I am currently doing the British Safety Council Diploma, not by distance learning, however lots of studying required. I wish you luck.

Thinking of doing the diploma, distance learning through Phoenix health and safety. anybody know if they are any good.
I on the other hand, am a fully rounded human being. With a decree from the university of life, A diploma from the school of hard knocks and three gold stars from the kindergarden of getting the shit kicked out of me.

Forgive my naivety, do you have to do the NEBOSH Certificate first, or can you go straight onto NEBOSH Diploma. More importantly out of all the quals you can do, which one pays the most on Civvy Street? Cheers

PG, there are a couple of options General Certificate or International GC, providing underpinning knowledge for Diploma and International Diploma. The former based on UK legislation and the latter ínternational'. I would pose the question to your training provider of choice as some will insist on pre-qualification and others will take relevant experience. Sorry I can't provide definitive answer.
Diploma certainly opens more doors for you
Best of luck
