Discuss Jimmy Carr in Economics on The Army Rumour Service; For what it's worth. I find when MP and their ilk start preaching the morality/immorality of behaviour it indicates they have run out of rational argument....

So are you saying Carr is a tax dodger ?

I agree that if anyone is illegally avoiding taxes then they should face charges, but legal tax avoidance ? Good luck to them; you might not like it but if they have not broken the law then what's the problem ?

If the view is this is wrong, then parliament should change the law to disallow tax avoidance.

Perhaps all the MPs avoiding tax legally would care to bear their souls financially - I am sure they will all feel better for it and so will we. Or perhaps, because legally they, along with Carr, have done nothing wrong, the moral indignation expressed by many is just the result of ignorance and jealousy or some kind of social moral agenda that people feel the need to express all of a sudden ? I might be more inclined to condemnation of Carr er al if I had faith that Government would actually use our taxes wisely and before they start naming and shaming individuals, they get their own sh*t in one sock and show some moral worth.

I don't see how Jimmy Carr is in any way a hypocrite - never, anywhere, has he stood up and preached morality, and in most of his shows he proudly tells all how he gives feck all to anyone, including charities. He is probably one of the most honest rich twats in this country.... just saying like.

You pay a 40% PAYE margin tax rate? You utter scum.

You should pay 40% on ALL your income AND an extra 10%. Otherwise the court of public opinion will find you guilty of having more intellect than them!

Jimmy Carr should now start his show with a big piccy of Bob Diamond and say something like - Now thats what a real cnut looks like.
First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.
    Martin Niemoeller

I'm speaking out before they come for me.
