In my opinion and I know that they are like arseholes, I would be as bold to say that those younger and those somewhat older than my generation, circa 40-ish, are rightly proud of our military heritage.
The only thing I would like to add is that I suspect that the Bundeswer who today serve outside their country, as do our soldiers, do not deserve a crass history lesson or a history lesson at all.
I don't expect to see feldwebel Schmidt posting on this site when one of our bretheren makes the ultimate sacrifice, voicing crass comments however tongue in cheek they are intended to be is in bad taste.
I was not born at the time of the last war, which suggests to me that they are most unlikely to have been either.
These young men/women and their dead colleagues/families IMHO deserve nothing but respect.
It's about time we, those that post show some respect too.
Edited for butterfingers.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you can be a real bore. Crass comments? Who the f*ck do you think you are?
In a good mood today then BAB, go and pick a fight with someone else cause I can't be arrsed. Me, I am just me for better or worse. Like it or lump it.
