The point I was trying to make Halo, but you put it far more eloquently
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
Winston Churchill

Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
Would love to see the production meeting notes together with the rest of there paper work that they have on this whole thing from conception to final report prior to broadcast. One would assume they swished past the legal dept also given that they intended to break so many laws rules and regulation? In both the making of this program, the editing and then broadcasting!

As part of any RMP investigation,I hope that this soldier/reporter is reported for fraud.Taking pay when you have no intention of performing, after signing a contract,IS fraud. Also if he continued to be paid by the Beeb, during his training, they should be done for aiding and abetting,IMHO.

As the BBC instigated and encouraged Sharp's dishonest and arguably illegal actions against the Crown, I will certainly take a more jaundiced view the next time it gets on its sanctimonious high horse about usually spurious allegations of service personnel not refusing to obey unlawful orders.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
Commanders & troops in theatre should consider the following;
1. Overtly giving priority to other media outlets looking for help in obtaining footage/stories.
2. QM's/RQ-SQ's (G4 chain) being less helpful when asked for logistic support.
3. Soldiers (particularly Sgts & below) unexpectidly putting the BBC in their place during live global interviews.
They will need us before we need them.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
NCOs bullying? The excellent NCOs I have known develop their recruits and fear of consequences is one means of development. I was never bullied at any point during training but being aware of disapproval of the NCOs (and others) was a motivating factor not a limiting one. If you had interviewed me at the 2 week point of POC troop I would have sounded off about a certain Corporal in terms that could have been considered to be bullying but as he had considerable abiliity and common sense he did develop me and got the best out of me which at the end of the course I was immensely grateful. In retrospect he didnt bully me at all in any way. He did set standards which I was expected to meet and his encouragement when I did get myself sorted was crucial. Looking at the BBC documentary it doesnt seem that the DS developed the recruits much and I suspect very strongly that that was edited out as it is not good material and would prejudice the intended point of the programme.
First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
What really annoys me about the whole affair is that this Cnut was enlisted in training in October last year. He was then cap-badged into the Yorkshire Regiment. In October last year the 2nd Battalion of the Yorkshire regiment was mixing it with the Taliban in Helmand while he was making this documentary which is based on hear say.
Is it no wonder why i hate civvies so much.
What a Cnut. This man's attitude is a cross between disinterested apathy and cutting sarcasm.
