Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
I am off course, outraged. Without commenting too much on what may or may not have happened in the rifles platoon I think the comment that "cpl A punched a recruit who had just punched him, there must be better ways to deal with a recruit" sums this whole programme up. I take it ITC cpls carry rigid cuffs, batons and CS spray to work? no? Well may be a punch is the most approriate response then!
The rest of it pushes, swearing etc? Well get real its the army I can remember a WO2 punching an RAF cpl, (actually maybe that was out of order and the RMP got involved) a smig hitting a member of my det for having an ND with Howitzer and me being assualted on a number of occassions by various people with a validish reason for doing so and that was in that well known hell hole of military brutality The University of London OTC!
nnnnnnnnnnrgghhh like Buck Felize in another string I hope to god I am really in a coma in 1988.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1- Watch 'The Hill'.
Put her in as a bit of wild card, my post wasn´t purely about CIC but pointing out that a bit of "undue" stress can bring out the potential in someone.

Although points to note, I think you will also find that "Chuck" Norris GC didn´t attend CIC either

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
The whole thing was a farce. Gen Dannatt came out of it brilliantly and the system turned the tables on the BBC. What a waste of taxpayers hard earned licence fees.
Edited for cr*ap spelling - sorry Sir!

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
Airbourneape.
That was by far and away the best post i have ever seen on any website let alone ARRSE.
Accurate and to te point.
This country remembers those who should be forgotten and forgets those who should be remembered. When troops came home from the Falklands, we were hailed as heroes. What's the difference today? Men (and women) are still going to war serving Queen and country, getting wounded, and dieing. Why has the general public suddenly forgot to cheer everyone home?
It's idiots like this reporter that try to bring down everything the British Armed Forces stand for. He, single handedly, could have done a great deal of hurt. Fortunately he only made himself look a total dick on national TV by expossing nothing at all. Airbourne's point of whinging recruits is right. There's always one that only joined up "because there was nothing else better to do". We've all had one in our joining classes, and i'm sure there'll be more. This guy only spoke to this kind of recruit, but conveniently missed the lads that were enjoying, (almost), evey minute.
We are, (and i'm sure one or two will disagree, just because you can), the finest fighting force in the wold, (Army, Navy, RAF, RM). We may not always have the best kit, we may not always have the best pay. Be we all join up to do a job we want to do. That makes a Big difference.
If this reporter had a real pair of balls he would have done his minimum term, gone to sunnier places and come back a man with a different outlook on life. He may not have returned so small minded.

Re: The Undercover Soldier - BBC1
as I missed it - thought I would watch it on iplayer - guess what - its not showing. Beeb is most probably embarrassed at programme. Also quite funny in that it was never raised in question time.

Hopefully the viewing public have seen it for what it obviously was.
