Does any one really think matters will improve if camerons lot gain power, they will simply run the the status quo, blame golden brown for lack of money.
the only plus side as I see it, is that if cameron and co get in at least he has people who served in his party, the only problem with that is will they be put in the posn to make changes!

I wish golden brown would hold an election, sick and tired of seeing this country go to the toilet, I bet the cav ba**ards are quaking in their boots, would love to see them lose there benifits.......wank*rs :D

Presumably Des will now focus exclusively on Scotland which will be much more interesting to him and Brroon than the soldiery.
Dr Johnson: 'Any man thinks less of himself for not having been a soldier, or not having been to sea.'

Thiomas Babington Macaulay, quoted by Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher of Kilverstone: 'Moderation in war is imbecility!'

Douglas MacArthur: 'There is no substitute for Victory!'

WHY, he's done little or nothing for the Soldiers on the ground!

So why should WE care if he goes?

Although better the DEVIL you know, who have the party got to replace him?

Sorry to give you all lessons in "stating the bleedin' obvious", but it's pretty clear this lot are not going to be in government after the next election. Perhaps some suggestions for "Call me Dave" would be more in order. How about Dave, when he's PM, elevating Gen Dannatt to the Lords and then making him the Defence Secretary? A bit American to have ex-senior officers in the cabinet but, what the heck, we've had ex-generals as PMs and plenty of Lords in the cabinet so it sounds like a good thing, certain couldn't be worse than the prats we've had in under both colours. Either that or give him a safe seat (Henley? now that Boris has gone.) and just put him in.
I can say the name of that railway station in Wales, as well.

A bit American? British, old boy, surely? The Tories had Wellington as Prime Minister in his day, and within living memory they've had Earl Alexander as Minister of Defense.

So who does "Call me Dave" has as Shadow Secretary of State? Liam Fox... a doctor... which will be handy if you need a boil on your bum lanced, but is he really the right man for the defense portfolio?

What about bringing Soames back? At least he has the wiff of being Churchillian. Or what about Jenkin? Isn't he MP for Colchavster? He might at least recongise a soldier if he saw one.

Fox appears to give a damn about the forces, which is supposedly one of the reasons that he's kept in the background, since there's a danger that he'll suddenly commit Dave and George to spending more of GDP on defence. There is a rumour (I stress nothing more than that) that Cameron might not be unsympathetic to that idea, but doesn't wish it to be said (for fear of the policy being stolen and the risk that the Guardianistas will use it as a stick to beat him with).

Soames would be a bad thing - as well as being monumentally lazy by all accounts, his observations about the Sainted Martyr of the Underpass (the artist formerly known as the Princess of People's Hearts) being mentally unstable suggested a certain lack of judgement (the fact that he was right was neither here nor there) when it came to putting forward a case.

He has a reputation for being a sexist dinosaur. He once attempted to irritate Alistair Campbell by phoning him up and calling him a 'sex god', realising just in time before launching into more ribald remarks that the phone had been answered by Campbell's ten year old son. And to top it all, his ex-wife once said that having sex with Bunter Soames was rather like having a wardrobe with a small key in the lock fall on top of you. While Boris Johnson affected being a bit of a buffoon, Soames, sadly, doesn't have to affect it. And to cap it all, he was largely responsible for dismantling the Defence Medical Services, so he has 'form' in that regard too.

so long as they all drown soon I don't mind them having a reshuffle. the more internal party politics they fight over the less they can be fucking up the country. If it keeps them from writing new pointless knee-jerk laws or inventing new stealth taxes, then I'm all for it.
