Re: Living on rations - on the Beeb website
Sounds tasty but for two wee points, I hate flapjacks and i really hate muesli.
Well, the prodigal brother. When did you get back? Ain't seen you since the surrender. Come to think of it, I didn't see you at the surrender.
I don't believe in surrenders. Nope, I've still got my saber, Reverend. Didn't beat it into no plowshare, neither

I was always very partial to the Corned Beef Hash, it was top hole. Also I too have to admit a penchant for biscuits brown with cheese possessed.
The "deserts", on the other hand, were minging and the work of the devil.

Re: Living on rations - on the Beeb website
It dosen't matter whats in them
They can have all the fancy pasta and musli dishes in the world
But if you only get Menu A for 8 weeks then you might as well be eating Beans Various
It's not the content that's wrong it's that they need to be rotated a bit more frequently
The joy of the Al Ammarah horror bag of Sausage roll, cheap crisps, panda pops and liqued Kit Kat soon wore off after a week or so
Like wise I can remember someone complining that Shiba had no were near the variety that the Yanks had at Doha even subways and Pizza Hut can drag on it would seem after 4 months
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

I liked the fruit biscuits :(
Must say though, that when I "came back in rom the cold" a few year back I was impressed at how much compo had improved and I love the rat packs.
I know I'm a sick puppy but even the veggy option was okay.
Hate the corn beef hash and the pudding in treacle is inedible though - yeuch!!
I miss the old tinned rat pack80's item Goulash - anyone remember it - I LOVED that!!! :DSparky2339 isny right in the heed.
