Phil Newman was an outstanding man which of course is very easily said at times like this but in his case it is true, admired and respected by all his fellow soldiers both regular and TA.I had the pleasure of serving with him and drinking with him on many occasions in this country and on operations he was a great soldier with a wicked sense of humor.I as everyone who I have spoken to in the last 24 hours is in a state of shock and very very saddened at the loss of Philthy.A quality piss take will never be quite the same again.

Take care Philth I hope your having a Strongbow up there mate
