Are they feck unbiased.....It seems they take sides all to willingly, and all to often if they do take a side in a story it is usually against the very country that is in the company's name...

Message posted, MP informed. Has anyone taken this up with CDS?
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by from this day until the ending of the world but we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers, For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, Be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition, and gentlemen in England now abed shall think themselves acursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whilst any speaks, that fought with us upon St. Crispin's day!

    Unbelievable!!!!!! I'm disgusted.

Good skills everyone who did something about it.... and who said ARRSErs were arrsers. For my part I'm going to track down the chairman of the BBC and shout through his letterbox.

It's not an open forum. If you type in some secret troop movements there, it doesn't appear on the website, it just gets emailed to some BBC bod.

The only troop movements that could possibly end up on that page are those that someone emails in. Any movements that were seen by a guy in Iraq who is sat in front of a computer are probably pretty much public knowledge anyway.
There is still a possible security issue but, so long as the person who receives the email is reasonably cautious about publishing it (and they have learned something in the last 25 years). There's no drama.

I, I mean Ali, has just reported sightings of 49 Para on patrol

Perhaps others may care to update the BBC on the movements of 49 (Para) Armoured Light Recon Brigade, 69 Squadron and HMS Nonsuch?

    My contribution:

Please proof-read your web pages before posting. It should read:
"Are you in Iraq? Have you seen any insurgent movements? If you have any information you would like to share with the BBC you can do so using the form below:"
"Hurrah for the Works Group" just doesn't have the same ring...

"A volunteer is worth ten pressed men."
So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).

I am a number. I am not a free man.

Spot the question posed by the most junior researcher on the desk.

I don't think the BBC want toi broadcast troop movements per se, but as they aren't allowed to embed at the moment (I think) then someone tried to phrase the question "Are there troops in your neighbourhood , are they making a difference" rather badly.

The BBC does need to be told to change that. I notice quite a lot of "If you're there, tell us" type posts at the end of stories on the BBC.

So they're either doing their bit for climate change and stopping reporters flying , or it's too damn dangerous to send journalists.

It might not be an open forum, granted, but i doubt its a 'cleared' forum.

It's not a drama of wether the person who receives the email about movements posts them or not, it's a drama of the BBC asking for said emails in the first place.

Why ask for information concerning movements if they are going to be "Reasonably Cautious" about handling the said information?
"Excuse me, can you tell me where you are going to be for the next 6 months? Oh don't worry, im cautious about having the information!"

    Re: More Irresponsible BBC Actions

I've just got my Iraqi mate to write into them:

I have just seen a large number of troops (Iraqi) chasing a BBC reporter through the streets of Baquba, followed closely by an M1-Abrams Tank. I spoke to my friend, Mr Baba, who is said that the BBC man is giving secrets to Al Qaeda and that some of the Iraqi and American soldiers have died because of it. My friend also say that this happen in Falklands! You people crazy and enemy!

PTP is right. It was a junior researcher who forgot to "refer up" to a manager who would have made an even bigger goat f~~k of the whole thing than she did.

What is really fascinating, though, is the hint that the relationship between the MoD and the press is changing (no more embeds??).

Just left a message to say

Is this a joke or are really that obtuse? What do you intend to do with the information? Who are you passing the information to? Why am I paying a licence fee for this potentially traitorous act? Also what does "The BBC may edit your comments and cannot guarantee that all emails will be published." mean? It sounds like you choose to write what you want and publish what you want in order to represent your views? I don't expect I will here a reply to my questions, but go on do try to surprise me!
Does the BBC have a complaints dept?

Gutted I was having fun there!

Please pass all information you have on the infidels movements on to us, it will save us many days collating data. With your help we will be able to set many more roadside bombs to kill and maim more of the infidel invaders, we may even kill some innocent locals too, but never mind they will die martyrs and go to heaven! We thank you for your irresponsibility and stupidity in advance.

    Yours
