    Countess von Stauffenberg

Countess Nina von Stauffenberg, wife of Colonel Count Claus von Stauffenberg has died aged 92. Talk about someone in the foreground of history! Pity it all went horribly wrong. It's amazing that she survived the revenge of Hitler.

    Countess von Stauffenberg

This may belong in Military and Related Obituaries thread as the wife of the second most famous German soldier (after Rommel-not Hitler).

Edited to add: also posted in Military and Related Obituaries.

    Re: Countess von Stauffenberg

How will the Germans mark her passing? It's not quite the end of a dynasty as the Von Stauffenbergs are still going strong in spite of Himmler's best efforts.

I'd like to see her passing marked in some sort of special way though.
He had bought a large map representing the sea,
Without the least vestige of land:
And the crew were much pleased when they found it to be
A map they could all understand.
