Tbf its not an easy job made far harder by succesive goverments arseing about with the rules every year.
Being reasonable and seeing the goverments point of view does not work.
When did a public sector work force ever get rewarded for being reasonable? They don,t next year it would be BOHICA and the year after that etc etc etc.
Being unreasonable works only worth being reasonable when goverment is reasonable as well.
To many in the other thread pointing out profitable company bonus for ceo nothing for the workers.
Join a union and be prepared to fight because otherwise you just get stiched up.

On a Hot morning in cyprus I found the meaning of anger. Fortunataly I was comftably numb.
The RSM and various other NCO's seemed very agitated.
maybe they should look into counselling?

What is so hard to understand here, yes technically they do have those holidays and weekends but they spend a fair amount of it planning, marking, putting displays together etc etc, the list is endless.

Believe what you want to believe, I have no reason to lie. My wife is a teacher and I know many teachers, their experience is the same.

Didn't go on strike while exams were dumbed down, the poor quality of teachers coming through, or the removal of competitiveness replaced with political correctness. If they had, they may get support from the general public. But no it's always about pay and pensions.

It's not as if they're providing a quality product. While results have been going up, industry employers have complaining about how education standards have been dropping.

There will once again be very little public support for this strike.

Certainly in the Construction industry clearing up paperwork and forward planning at the weekends is common place, has been since I joined 20 years ago. Not unusual to get e-mails from contract managers late at night, or drawings from architects in the early hours of the morning.
I have my phone with me at weekends, and regularly get calls from main contractors with questions they forgot to ask during the week.

So teachers are not unique, far from it.

    Good on them.

If you're not happy with your lot in life then you should have became a teacher or whatever profession allows you to take this action instead of being a soldier, police officer etc.

Personally though I'd call their bluff & attempt to sack as many of them as possible and employ those fresh out of university & keen for a steady wage / first rung on the teaching career path.

Actually most public sector workers like the TACOS and pay they have, and the work too. What they are trying to do is protect the TACOS and pay and simply expect the government (the employer) to stick to the terms of of the original contract. Not unreasonable, is it?
You have missed a major point - the armed force cannot go on strike.... oh and also how many times has the Army contract changed since you joined up (homosexuality was not allowed but now it seems to be compulsary)
