And I always get my way
If I strike for higher pay
    When I
    show my card
    To the Scotland Yard
    This what I say.

    Oh you don't get
me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
    You don't
get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I
    die.
    Give me more money?

How very dare you call my whinging shit of a teacher brother a whinging shit!
I'll have you know that the poor whinging shit is so badly paid, he can only afford a new build 3 bedroom house in northolt, a brand new 25k Honda and 2 holidays a year on just his wages. And yes, he claims very vociferously to be underpaid and ut must be true because he's a teacher and they would never lie or have a hugely inflated view if their worth.
Warning, this post contains some flash photography.

Have too many spenders and not enough makers and you end up in the red (in more ways than one- as you create a dependent work force whose self interest push them to vote for parties promising more of the same). Have more makers than spenders and you stay in the black- it really is that simple. The problem is the (understandable) self interest of those that stand to lose when the state stops handing out cash it has stripped from the makers.
Already debated on the previous threads. I'm not repeating myself.

    Teachers are NOT overpaid.

Despite their 'long holidays' they work like fuck in term time, my ex was a teacher, and despite mutual hatred now - I have to recognise the fact that she and her colleagues worked damn hard - full day of work at school then another 3-4 hours at home.

If they want to change the terms of new joining teachers then fine - the education standard and quality of candidate attracted arguments aside - but to pull the rug out from under them is wrong
Overpaid= the total capitation rate. I don't refer just to the salary, but mainly to the benefits: specifically the pension which I, as a tax payer, fund.

If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have made the mistake that taught me what I know now, but didn't know then.

And I'm not searching for your argument, so we'd best draw stumps on that one.

Spaniel, not being funny or anything, but there are over 1200+ independent (i.e. private sector) schools in the UK; maybe your Missus might feel more effective if employed in one of those?

Having left long-standing employment with NHS and Local Authority to go to the Holy Grail of the private sector, mainly due to the very same dissatisfaction your Missus appears to be enduring, and experienced how the private sector can (and does) treat not only its employees but also those in receipt of its services, I can only reflect that, when pondering whether to leave the public sector, I wish I'd had the sense to have a Coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.

Which they also pay into, a fair ld whack.

Either way my point still stands - wanna change the pension, do so for new entrants so they know what theyre getting into, dont pull the rug from those who've already signed up for it.

and either way, 'total capitation' or not, they are STILL not overpaid for what is actually a bloody hard, excessively accountable and overly restricted (in hands tied way) profession

I had teacher GF and her one obssesion seemed to be early retirement and a cottage in Normandy.

At 28 and having only been in the work place and paying into the system for about 6 years it is taking the piss somewhat to be planning that already.
