Going off thread a little; however John Major met a 90 year old Indian Burma veteran VC holder at the VC convention in London while JM was in office. In conversation JM said 'The VC annuity must be useful to you' ' I don't have one' said the Indian. It was put right and with back pay and before many days. For that and a few other reasons I like John Major.
