There is only one principle of war and that's this. Hit the other fellow, as quickly as you can, as hard as you can, where it hurts him most, when he ain't lookin.

Watched the Muster on YouTube, I thought it was rather good. The drill wasn't too bad when one considers the parade consisted of a bunch of newly graduated recruits, TA, RNR, RAFVR and regular personnel recently returned from operations. Well done all concerned.
I sincerely hope all taking part in the Muster were given the QDJM.

As an aside there seems to be an awful lot of 'A' grade graduates of the All Arms Drill Wing posting on this thread.
For the cadets and walts: Sgts and above in the Foot Guards wear white gloves in Home Service Dress!

    Diamond Jubilee Muster Windsor

I would never dream of denigrating in any way the outstanding contribution to the Services and Country of the female gender. However I cannot quite get used to the idea of lady sailors uniformed the same as the male matelots. On the DJMW I did tend to try and spot the female. Some of them look really "butch". I always found the old WREN tailored uniform was a definite turn on but sadly no longer! There again I have never liked women wearing trousers and many a time I have had to tell my dear wife "to gerr'em off!" In the nicest possible way of course!

Yep, timing did go funny from time to time. It was noticeable on rehursals that for our group the most together run-through came when certain Sgt. Maj.s stopped trying to keep us in time!

It got a bit difficult in the quadrangle due to the echo from more than one band. Although of course I was never out of step it was all the rest. Great week, good giggle and the GSM is a quality bloke.

One of the funniest moments was Bde Maj shouting at the Rifles during the rehersals to swing their arms shoulder high (yet again) only to be told by the guards drill bloke next to him that they are rifles and they don't

Not too shoddy considering we only had 1 days practice as a whole contingent and I tend to agree with an earlier post, it would be a nice touch if all participants where to be awarded the medal regardless of time served (oh controversial)

I too feel that attendance on parades should be visibly rewarded, after all, any damn fool can get shot at or abused by hostile Johnny Foreigners, whereas it takes guts of steel to endure the shoutings of an RSM in full flight and to have flags waived in your general direction. Some of those flags are attached to nasty pointy sticks you know.......
I myself am a veteran of many a VIP (Very Important Parade) and was often to be seen appearing at the NAAFI in Aldershot, the NAAFI in Dortmund, the NAAFI in Osnatraz and at many a public house both home and abroad representing my country/Troop/Regiment/Cap Badge so have accumulated much service and sustained untold damage to my liver.
A nice shiny gong would be nice - along with beer privileges, perhaps?
