He lost his security clearance when evidence came to light. He appealed and an independant adjudicator ruled against him. A condition of his employment was suitable security clearance. He became unemployable. He resigned before he was dismissed. Being muslim/asian has nothing to do with it, although I'm certain it will "become" the only reason for those who stand to profit from it.

Pardon the quote. The headlines as reported : "MI5 feared British police attended terrorist camps.MI5 warned Scotland Yard that policemen in its ranks were suspected of attending terrorist training camps, it can be disclosed". Does this mean that no hard evidence has been offered up, for one reason or another? Or damage limitation? Need to know?

Is this not a good argument for those who think that profiling and limits to tolerant inclusion are dismissed only by fools?

If this were an embarrassing and disturbing fact that serving members of Plod were or are sleepers, potential terrorists, and have attended terrorist training in Pakistan, then to some of us it may be no surprise . And to others, shocking. Vetting and security missed something didn't they. But the Police seem to have reacted swift and bold. Positive stuff, to bin suspects out of police office, not so good that the suspects might have bypassed checks. But how do you recognise terrorists with no form, or get inside their heads? You can't. But the system has pinged them as suspected threats and thrown them out.

The things that worry people like me, is that inclusion and tolerance is necessary and just. But it won't always work in security and policing, two of those really important matters which we expect authorities to get right, ignore the fluffies and idealists on the odd occasion even, if we're to avoid more city bombings and corrupt terrorists in our first lines of defence.

Yes. 'Feared', or 'suspected' do not mean 'did'.

He's suspected and gets binned, MI5/6 or whatever won't disclose the source of their information to an employment tribunal, so I anticipate the Met will roll over, settle out of the public eye and hand him a substantial wad of cash. Ta very much, Mr Taxpayer.

Can't see what all the fuss is about. Presumably the copper who infiltrated the camp made plenty of arrests?

The scene. Deep in the Pakistani badlands, a trio of masked scallywags are busily discussing what end of a gat the bullet comes out of when - lo and behold!
One of them stands up and doffs his terrorist gear, revealing, beneath his rags, a pristine bobby's uniform.
Dixon of Dock Green (for it is he): The game's up you 'orrible bunch of blaggers! Let's be 'aving you!
Ahmed Al Jihadi: Oh my Allah! Cuff me Dixon Sahib, it's a fair cop, guv.
Mohammed Al Amok: Mint! A few months in clink, then we all get our UK resident permits. I hear Luton's lovely...?
Dixon: Luton? Er, yes....paradise itself. Now come along quietly, and we'll all have a nice cuppa...

I do hope you copyright that, otherwise I am sure Class T-shirts will be churned out with that on it!

(Apart from the fact I understand Hendon is winding down, the gym block has been demolished and it stands mostly vacant. All day courses no "borders" now. Sadly really, 18 fun-filled weeks there).

Irnonically, the IPT has ruled against the Met in favour of...............Ali Dizaei.

The force listened to calls made by Chief Superintendent Ali Dizaei, legal adviser to the National Black Police Association (NBPA) and one of Britain's most senior ethnic minority police officers.

The interception has been ruled unlawful by the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, the BBC reported.

The NBPA said the tapping included calls in which Mr Dizaei gave advice to black and Asian colleagues in disputes with their own forces.
It said Mr Dizaei's calls were tapped during a police investigation called Operation Helios, during which the force recorded 3,500 private calls.
