    If I recall, and correct me if I am wrong, we are the second biggest contribute to the EU, with Germany (who want the EU so so much) being the first. Which is why we were getting a rebate, of which traitor Blair decided we could dispense with.

    I believe you're correct. Re the Germans, I believe they have paid more money in real terms to the EU than was required of them by the full Versailles settlement - mind you, they reap huge rewards from a Euro exchange rate far lower than anything the DM could have achieved.
