And the people that pay most of the income tax proportion of the Chancellor's pot. I fit into that segment and pay about £1300 a month. Ive never voted Tory in my life. The majority of the income tax pot comes from a fair mix of political allegiances. As for teh very rich well, remind me again how much Billionaire Sir Philip Green pays : BBC News - Today - PM pressed on tax avoidance

Or indeed how Cameron's late Father ensured that Dave's best mate Gideon got no share of the inheritance: David Cameron's inherited family wealth 'based in foreign tax havens' - Telegraph

Poor old Dave only got £300k of UK funds that came under HMRC scope. Topping luck that it was too small to attract Inheritance Tax, What?
Not my fault that they (you) were too stupid to see the wood for the trees. A spade is a spade. If it is wearing a red rosette, it will buy popularity with the proles by spending other peoples' money.

She'd be better off in prison with a Nurse on hand 24/7. Going to the prison gym would be good for her mental health problems.
    Take her down.

And if it wears a blue one it will ensure no-one has any money by ****ing over the economy and/or hiking interest rates to stifle investment. My wife has been made redundant 3 times in her life. Each time the Tories were in power and each time the cause was their economic incompetance leading to recession. Even though I am "stupid" I think I can spot a pattern..........

That said this woman is a coward. She seemingly fiddled the system for as much as she good and quite balatantly. She should not be allowed to get away with it.

OK, a trowel's a trowel. Or leopards don't change their spots. I wasn't referring specifically to Gibson's dog or any other use of that phrase.

Yes, absolutely. Pattern goes like this:

Conservative government elected after some national disaster, in order to right the ship. After all, they can be trusted to "do the right thing". They're financially prudent and willing to make unpopular sits for the long term benefit.

A while passes by and people are a bit restless at being less well off than they might be. They look over the fence at other nations' prosperity and think "I want a bit of that here".

Labour stroll into town and promise the earth to get the votes.

Labour duly elected. They then proceed to fanny about with major decisions (e.g. nuclear power, Trident replacement, new aircraft carriers and aircraft for them). They start doling out vote-buying incentives to the man in the street.

Eventually the house of cards comes crashing down because they can't pay for it. Or ran out of other peoples' money.

Conservatives re-elected. Labour runs away claiming "a big boy did it".

Faced with a bag of crap to sort out, Conservatives start dishing out the medicine, and people have to tighten their belts.

I'd expect Labour to come top in the polls in the next year or two, and the cycle will renew.

Can't they order that anything cars houses etc bought with the proceeds of crime can be siezed?
I assume she's not to depressed to be chucked in a hostel while the goverment rafles off her stuff.
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.

A lot of truth in that if I am honest. However I'd argue that the Tories would dismantle things regardless because that is what dogma tells them to do.

I'd agree though that Labour will over invest to compensate for Tory tendency not to invest at all. Much of what Blair & Brown did was worthwhile and much needed. But a lot of it was garbage. - I think a section of massive growth in welfare spend could legitimately be described as protection money to keep the real dross fed and watered and stop them thieving.

Problems is the Conservatives won't differentiate between good and bad spend as they rip it apart to restart the cycle. I have no confidence in Osborne whatsoever. He really is a classic example of someone being in a job simply becuase he's mates with the boss.
