No I did not. I do not think driving trucks is a war crime. It might be a deeply distasteful way of employing soldiers, but it is not a war crime.

Do not accept that truck driver strike is anything other than cynical and self serving.

the lack of Tachograph usage and the RTD.
They become mil vehicles as soon as they are leased and a ATUD is applied as was the civilian tanker i drove last time and a few times since on a few Exercises i have done in the past.

I will also agree about the MAN G/Box.....what about Scania, Daf and Merc?
They will be Fam'd up with whatever truck is given to them. How long do you think it takes for instance a person that drives a Tank Transporter in his day to day job, a civilian smaller truck with a better auto gearbox??

Do you seriously think that a Civilian Haulage Company will let the Military Drivers
out with their equipment without Training?
No, who said they will use civilian haulage companies trucks? Like last time the trucks will probably not go out of their depots as they do not belong to the MOD. The MOD do not have the power to go on private property to use vehicles.

Do you think that a Civilian Haulage Company will let the Military Drivers pass the
inevitable Refinery Picket Line on their own in £170k worth of kit?
    No, read points above.

You are quite obviously under the misguided impression that the Military will only
be delivering to the Emergency Services, think again Dick Whittington.
Sorry you took my comment as a blanket statement. There will be others who will get supplies of fuel just like last time, but unlike me, you are not privy to that info.

You'll be telling us next that any Squaddie with a Class 1 will be employed on Fuel
    Deliveries!
No exactly, but as im sure after the correct training then they could be employed to do such duties.

Look at the time of Post 155 and this Post, things have changed and you are quite
    obviously not in the Loop.
Im probably more in the loop than you know. Look at the vehicle on my Avatar and that may give you a clue. Mate, its a fucking truck with liquid in the back....if it was that fucking dangerous i would not send soldiers out to drive them in Afghanistan.

    Sorry, Mate.
Please read my comments above next to your poor suppositions.

I was having a pop at 1001Tosspot not you. Noone said there were any war crimes but you did come damn close to saying soldiers would only be obeying orders

Strike is the working man's last resort weapon. No-one does it for fun. If you want to see self serving motives look to the employers. Any drop in pay wont be reflected in cheaper fuel it will inevitably go into profit and pay shareholder dividend and Director remuneration.

My last employer cut pay (where it could) by between 5% and 40% three years ago for all staff, then froze it. Bonuses for staff were cut to £0. However Director and very senior manager remuneration, we were told, was "individually contractual" so "regretfully" had to be left alone. The firm didn't drop the rates we were charged out at. Profits went up by an amount matching the lost pay and the CEO pocketed an extra $11m bonus ($32m as opposed to $21m) as a direct result because strangely his "individually contractual" bonuses were directly linked to profit . That is true cynicism.

Roger. Please don't preach about wages and the nobility of the working man. The latest 0% pay award and higher accommodation charges means soldiers are on 6-7% less this year than last. Those people 'strike breaking' will be driving having missed out on leave and some will be just back from Afghanistan. Most wlil also be about to stag on at the Olympics. Spare me the sob story.

The drivers are withdrawing labour to try and get more pay and in doing so will tharm he economy and society, very noble.

And if people who can take action do it could protect others.

So who is the bigger mug? The lorry driver that does something about it or the soldier that accepts it and rather than see the injustice and blame their employer blames those that won't put up with it.

I've just gone 3 yrs without a payrise and swallowed 12% plus inflation. Hundreds of thousands of others in the private sector have also. Excuse me if I don't lend you my hanky.

As for the Olympics well those stadiums won't area clean themselves will they? Don't blame every other worker just because soldiers put up with unwarranted crap and then convince themsleves of their own nobility to compensate. I've said before I was a STAB and if they'd tried coercing me into that Olympics bollocks the CQMS would have been checking my 1157 back in before the ink was dry on the order. I just looked at my Sympathyometer and your complaint didn't register.

The lorry drivers pay claim will not affect the prices you and I pay one jot. Every penny off a drivers pay goes straight into a CEO's pension pot. I told you my experience above. Every word is true.

Well pleased that you see us as mugs. What have you done about your position? Are you brave enough to take action! Course not, but you will support these modern heroes, striking to save us all.

I left for an 18.7% payrise plus car allowance. Wife doesn't work but I will lose all child benefit. You do the sums............
