but they won't be driving Mil. Vehs will they, it will need the Govt. to approve
the lack of Tachograph usage and the RTD.
We don't use Tachos in civilian (MT owned or hired in) vehicles either.

Well as one who has spent all day providing various HQ's with exactly the same information in completely different formats, I can say that I am slightly in the loop and some of the inevitable guess work on here is rather amusing

The only conclusion I make so far is thank goodness we spent millions on MIS such as JAMES so the whole world can continue with EXCEL spreadsheets

Arters, are you by any chance a fuel tanker driver. I do not think you should confuse what wincanton etc want to do with what the govt will require them to do. Driving trucks and delivering fuel? No issue. Not using tachographs? No issue. Using trucks owned by employers? No issue. If in national interest, will be requisitioned. Or companies reminded how licensing and authorisation works.

Do you think a fuel strike will have any public support? It is about fuel drivers pay, not safety and not tax on fuel. They will be 'the baddies' Cameron will break the strike and the Army will be seen as just doing as told.

Yes. If neccessary the companies will loan the vehicles to a government department.

Do you remember there was the threat of a drivers strike circa 1980. My TA unit was on 24 hours notice of mobilisation.
