Always a tragedy to hear of the death of a soldier, more so when it's multiple casualties.

So, so young. It was mentioned on the news that they were part of the advance party, with the main body departing within the week. What a cloud to have hanging over the unit as they try and focus on their deployment. I have no doubt professionalism will kick in. Stay safe fellas.

Maybe the flippancy of my comment wasnt apparent. we cant admit we failed the Afghan population so well claim we gave them the ability to choose and they chose suffering and oppression. someone somewhere said smoething about choosing to be alive rather than free, I feel its very apt.

I have been and do not want to go back. **** it, I feel sory for the Afghans who want to live in a modern country, based on science and education. I do not think they are going to get that and it is partially our fault. Shortly after we leave, IMO, they will be back in a backwards theocracy.

This is a sad (and I think futile) loss.

I do agree BTW that not everyone is the enemy. Those poor ****ers will suffer the most when we ****-off.
