You can read the transcript of her speech at St Bride's in 2010 here:

Sadly she took the pitcher to the well once to often. I occasionally make church furniture, a few years ago I was asked to make a memorial piece for Simon Cumbers, he was the photographer killed when Frank Gardner got injured. These are good and brave people.

Are they? Has ARRSE suddenly fogotten the outrage about News international of whom Mrs Colvin worked?

Not that I have a problem with it, but journalists tend to work for large sums of money and not the desire to get truth and justice to the masses. The stories in the Sunday Times will be whatever Rupert (of phone hacking fame) Murdoch allows.

I doubt she's ever had to hack anyone's phone to get a story.

Nonsense. No shades of grey in Stacker's world, remember?

All journos are implicated by those who ultimately employ them. Just as all soldiers are the new incarnation of Dennis Nilsen.

There's probably a story out there that he won't 'play Devil's Advocate' on (or more realistically - 'troll for all he's worth') but it's likely to be something I won't see in my lifetime.
"You've really worked out your banter haven't you?"

"No, not really. This is a different thing; it's spontaneous and it's called 'wit'"

So? From what I remember from the list I saw I don't think there was a single UK paper that hadn't done it.

In the same way that you happily work(ed) for an organisation that murdered Louise Jensen?

Never heard so much crap! They work on the same wages that a graduate with over 30 years on the job experience deserves and being top of the profession to boot.

If you can't think what that should be, think Senior Officer in the Army - say a Colonel/Brigadeer. It's perfectly reasonable.

Most 'combat' stuff is recorded by local civvies on mobile phones, to be analysed by a senior correspondent in a news edit suite. An increading amount of other good footage is being provided by the military's own 'combat cameramen' (I hate that phrase; sounds like 'the fighting Seebees'), but MC was in a dwindling band of correspondents and reporters who actually go out with a producer, a fixer and a proper camera to get what we all remember as old style news.

As the years pass well get more of each end of the trio, iPhone and MoD camera footage and less of the traditional War Corr stuff.

    Just my view.
