I assume you were talking about the driver trade?
Glad it's not just my unit that has loads of fat loggie drivers occupying PIDs that do anything but drive then.

Back on topic - Gawd Bless 'er - and here's to another 10 years (and a QPJM to annoy the NDM whinge-bags).

Our taxes are actually cheaper in the long run because of the queen, the queen effectively rents out all her land in exchange for
fixed anual salary of £40,000,000, sounds alot but off the land we make about £200,000,000 a year in revenue.

"She shouldn't have that much power as its undemocratic!"
What power, her powers are very much limited to simply approving parliament, her position is very much a ceremonial one.

"It isn't worth having a queen, whats the point!"
Wel aside from the aforementioned profit on her land, she also attracts between 5-10 billion pounds in tourist revenue each year,
and the fact of the matter is most things they come to see have some connection to the crown i.e castles, I mean most things not
related to the crown are free anyway (stone henge).

"The queen is a remnant of the feudal ages that is outdated"
Whether you like it or not, the queen makes us money as previously discussed, she boosts moral, and gives us a sense of national
identity. If we got rid of the queen we would be one of those countries that no-one can quite remember, i.e belgium.

If you do not like the queen, thats fine, as long as you except that the queen is here to stay, and just deal with the fact that she is
adored by alot of people. If like most republican loadmouths you have a massive problem with the queen, and you honestly wish
her harm then I will simply put this down to a power complex and/or paranoia.
Excellent post, I agree with every word, except that you defeat your own argument in as much as Belgium is a monarchy.

Just reading back through this thread - it seems a rather predictable outcome in retrospect...

OP posts a rather fitting thread to commemorate QDJ. Someone thinks they'll try and be funny in CA with an obvious windup. Someone bites. Someone else warns first someone not to bite. Second someone can't resist. Troll is fed, windup escalates. Factfinding missions begin on both sides. First and second someone begin to trade insults, neither someone will back down, so both someones start using C word and typing in bold and italics. Everyone else gets bored. Two hours later - a thread will appear in NAAFI along the lines of "What's [insert username]' problem?"

Anyone new to ARRSe, welcome. And don't forget to wipe your feet on the way out.

Well, the Royals seem to crack through a large number of engagments each year. I believe the Princess Royal was doing 600-700 per year.

I think Her Majesty has slowed down a bit but considering she is still 'working' twenty years after most people have retired I say fair enough.

Congratulations to HM on this auspicious day - I don't think any of us will be seeing another Diamond Jubilee in this lifetime.

You know, I don't think she is. She doesn't wear the Coronation, Silver or Golden Jubilee Medals. She does wear the George V Silver Jubilee Medal and George VI Coronation Medal, but ones for own reign.

Not really, I was simply using belgium as country not particularly known around the world other than the odd slave amputation and chocolate. Everything about our national Identity is in some way related to having a monarchy ourselves.

However If said all countries with a monarchy are easily remembered then I would have defeated my own argument.

I like sausages. Dipped in boiling water to stop the skins splitting. Then fried. So does Her Majesty, Gawd Bless 'er.
