One of my Granfathers fought throughout WW1 with the Grenadiers the other throughout WW2 with the Sherwood Foresters.
My Father fought in Korea with the Leicestershire regiment. I served from 1971-1976. My family have done their bit which entitles me to say what I fucking well want.
Unlike the Queen I've never been forced to pay my taxes.
If you consider a bunch of tax dodging, adulterous, workshy bunch of leeches worthy of you admiration so be it.

Living proof that there are things the public sector can do better than the private.

If it's been sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk then I'm probably pissed. We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.

What you mean is, if what you say is true, your ancestors earned the right to say what they want. But you haven't earned the right to crayon all over a thread entitled Three Cheers For HM The Queen.
This is not a thread in the NAAFI so kindly keep your foul mouthed abuse to yourself. An alleged 5 years (were you binned for being useless?) of service doesn't earn you the right to behave like drunk with tourettes syndrome.3; 2; 1; Firing NOW.........

To the republicans: Every country has a Head of State. If you got rid of the Monarchy you'd end up with some fuckwit self serving politico in the role, who would wind up costing the taxpayer at least as much, but not bring in a fraction of the tourist revenue.
Personally, I'd rather owe my allegiance to a non-political head of state who sees being a symbol of the nation as her only role and provides unparalleled cultural continuity, to some greasy superannuated party apparatchik, elected after untold sums are spent re-electing them (The 2008 US presidential election cost around $2.8 billion, and the 2012 campaign is expected to top six billion dollars. Compare that to what we spend on the civil list).
Congratulations. Ma'm and my hearty thanks for sixty years of service. From Great Britain to Little Britain in one generation! Ozymandias was right.

@woofer829 - today is really not the day for this.
Today is a day to pay respects to a great lady who has selflessly lead our nation for 60 years. Without complaint and always with a smile.
Congratulations Ma'am. We shall be raising a tot to you this evening.per vires quod dolus
