Goldbricker, I'm not trying to look for an argument here, but you know as much as I do that the senate think they can command the world, this is what pisses off the rest of us and alienates the US, the world does not answer to the shallow senate of the United States.
People like me are big fans, and I'm in a minority, but this arrogant shit pisses even people like me off."Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life".

I'm fully in agreement, The Senate Dems are looking for something to look like they are doing their job and deflect from the pissed off electorate before Novembers elections....
And what better target than BP who've been their whipping boy for the last 3 months.
US Senate Foreign Relations Majority Members
John Kerry (D-MA)
Chris Dodd (D-CT)
Russ Feingold (D-WI)
Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
James Webb (D-VA)
Robert Menendez (D-NJ)
Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)
Ted Kaufman (D-DE)
Ben Cardin (D-MD)
Robert Casey Jr. (D-PA)
Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
Add to that you can bet the farm Charles "Chuck the Schmuck" Schumer (D-NY) will get his face on camera grilling BP's CEO.Last edited by Goldbricker; 23-07-2010 at 01:13.

Having watched hours upon hours of these sentate committes and congressional hearings Straw and Blair as oxbridge lawyers will most likely completely fucking destroy them. Galloway essentially raped 4 of them on capital hill and walked away laughing.

Well they've already had their answer from the Scottish Government.

Yeah they'll be fucking destroyed by Blair's power-talk. And that's before he even starts the hand-jiving . . . noooooooo you don't want to go there!
They have lawyer-politicians over there too you know. If anyone - on either side of the exchange - manages to do a Gorgeous George I will applaud. But I fear that it would be too good to be true.Last edited by cupoftea; 23-07-2010 at 01:44.

While they are a bunch of cnuts, at least they are standing up and saying to the Americans that they do not need to answer to them.
I tire of congressional arrogance that they rule the world and everyone needs to explain to them their choices.
Fcuk off America even at the height of our Empire we were not so much of a bunch of arrogant twats!!Last edited by Ord_Sgt; 23-07-2010 at 01:47.

Well, that and the fact that the alleged BP pressure related to the Prisoner Transfer Agreement, which the Scottish Government refused to include Megrahi in.

I tend to steer clear of political debate and while I have no love for Blair or Straw I agree with Ord_Sgt, it was clear that the US did not agree with the release a covicted terrorist but as they provided a safe haven for Republican terrorists for years and I don't remember the UK govenment asking anyone to pop over to explain why our extradition requests were denied. I think they should be told to feck off in the strongest terms.

Cupoftea, there seems to be only one tactic necessary to defeat what one can hardly call powerful questioning of a senate or congressional committe - which is to not rise to the bait.
So stupid are half the people, and so witless half those under examination that this seems to be how dozens of these things go. Its probably a temperament issue but anyone just keeping cool just winds them the fuck up. They are under no legal obligation to give answers and the god complexes of these committees crumble time and time again when confronted with people who are not swayed by a democratically elected name tag.
So yes Straw will eat everyone on that committee alive, even Kerry who is regarded as above average will be undermined by his witless belicose peers. Who will no doubt deploy the "my mate said something about your mum being a SLAG and been sleeping with all the BP boyz init!" line, to which Straw can cooly reply "you have no evidence of such a thing occuring it is pure conjecture, next question". Or he can like Galloway and other succesful foreigners on the bench turn their code of conduct and questioning practices against them. They are the best ones.

I have to say, as much a fan of America as I have been, the arrogant attitude towards the UKs input has pushed me over the edge, special relationship, faaaack off, I opt out, selfish self serving wankers. Do it on your own, you clearly think you can.

I hate to say it but the US sent a ship looking for 50 million of Britain's gold reserves in 1940 from South Africa, they were sent on their way!
The Jet Engine we handed over for 3.5 million quid, the agreement to share the technology of the atomic bomb, then reneged until President Roosevelt again agreed to his commitments.
Don't let us forget what we were given, a loan that got us on our feet again, but equally don't let us forget it was not for nothing. The UK re-payed every penny.
You guys have many bases around the world because of it."Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life".

Ooooh ooh there hasn't been one of these for ages! Ord_Sgt, don't forget about Diego Garcia, or Ascension Island which are British 'possessions' but are completely covered in US Airbase that we have to ask for permission to use / fly over. We even tricked the inhabitants of Diego Garcia into moving out so that they could expand their facilities. Wasn't that nice of us?
They don't pay us any rent for USAF Blighty either. Its us who have to pay a fortune to them if we ever want the land back.
Edit : Some Arrsers will probably want to burn me at the stake for saying this but I hope Churchill spends his days being reamed by Uncle Sam's top hat in hell for selling us down the river like that.Last edited by cupoftea; 23-07-2010 at 02:44.

You're right, there hasn't been one for a while, should be a good enough a reason to fold up and be boned from behind, not standing up for yourself is a great thing, MBEs all round.........
