    What has just clicked with me is that man Byers saying something like “ …........ I am a bit like a Taxi Cab driver plying my trade “ and then it occurred to me he was more like a tart plying her trade … but that would be an insult to the second oldest profession in the world
    There are those who know .... those who don't know .... but the most annoying , outspoken and dangerous are ....

    Well now Brown has said that all his ministers and the departments involved in Byers claims have told him nothing happened so there is no need for any enquiry. We sorry if you had been fingered for dodgy dealing you aren't going to admit it to Brown are you.

    Byers has clearly lied, now did he lie to the guys doing the sting, or did he lie to us. All we know now is he is an admitted liar.

    The one saving grace is that it is highly unlikely that Byers will ever get a lobbying job again.

    A final though did the journos pick this lot at random or did they have some other hints as to who to target.

    Neil Hamilton was rightly charged and imprisoned for doing somewhat less than Byers has been shown to be involved in, and indeed incriminated himself.

    Sleaze under the last conservative government was bad, but they were amateurs by comparison to the current government.
    I did say it wasn't a moral defence, and it is theft, however sadly the ancient legal technicalities of parliament may see it otherwise, although in my opinion they likely won't.
    An MP can be arrested for ANY Criminal Offence. Parliamentary privilege does not protect against such offences.

    If they've offered influence in office for cash, then it's time for the police.

    And I find it very entertaining that you should use the word 'facts', it's a bit like Katie Price using the word 'class' .
    Well,that's exactly what these sleazebags were doing,but I do not anticipate arrests anytime soon.

    Funny how this thread has 'fallen off' the front page! Just like the BBC - if is against the 'Dear Leader' and his 'swine', then bury it and report that 'Dave' has been bonking - (at least it was with his his wife).

    Harman said in Parliament that the three ministers accused of disgraceful abuse of their positions, had: '.... no influence on the government'.

    I agree that:

    The hateful Hewitt - (A 'stuck-up'. sneering and foreign cow) - and Labour's answer to the awful Virginia Bottomley;

    The irrelevant and hopeless Hoon;

    Plus the failed and practically unknown, non-entity Byers, could never, even collectively, had any influence on 'government' -

    - but they all influenced, ADVERSELY, our lives.

    Cameron made some hints that lobbying was the next big scandal. I dont think its co-incidence. Cameron knew exactly what the BBC did.

    I'm actually reversing my view that Brown is the worst PM ever. He is just imcompetent. I wonder if Blair's oil deals had got to the press when those deals were made and coincidentally UK troops went into Iraq would there have been a possibility he would have been impeached? My opinion is probably, he just knew when to get out, and Bush was instrumental in that decision.

    Byers is just simply beneath contempt. Was he a sacrificial lamb when the Martin enquiry details were made public? Too much of a co-incidence. I would prefer to have Gorbals Mick in Frankland next to Ian Huntley.
    First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.

    I'm speaking out before they come for me.
