It this quote is accurate, surely he is hoisted by his own petard? How gay is that comment?

    You don't do satire then?
    The Americans normally don't!
You really think that was a genuine quote? Rock Hudson?
Yep, Rock Hudson was a bit of a giveaway, wasn't it?!
Not as much as someone actually baking quiche.

Such a straight cliche, that. No one I know cooks. Most people head off to Yo Sushi, shortly after injecting ket into their eyeballs.

Baking it might be a straight cliche but eating it is not.

I think you will find that real men do not eat quiche, they eat egg flan.

Dutch officials have rejected a retired US general's claim that its forces failed at Srebrenica because of poor morale over openly gay soldiers.
    ...
Gen Sheehan had been speaking at a US Senate hearing on allowing gay people to serve openly in the US military.

He said Dutch leaders had told him that the presence of gay soldiers had contributed to the Bosnian massacre.

Gen Sheehan said the former chief of staff of the Dutch army had told him that the presence of openly gay soldiers in the Dutch peacekeeping force were seen as "part of the problem" which contributed to the fall of Srebrenica.

He argued that since the end of the Cold War, European militaries had changed and he concluded "there was no longer a need for an active combat capability".
How would it be commented in the Soviet mass media

Headline: Moral decay of capitalist system leads to a corruption of NATO armies.

Now, even high ranked representatives of NATO countries recognize the realities. Recently, decorated American general Sheehan described the Dutch army as overcrowded by homosexuals and thus helpless and useless. Dutch working class is not eager to serve to corrupted capitalist elite and to take part in aggressive adventures of Washington’s hawks. In this situation, Dutch puppets of American imperialists resort to recruit drug takers, criminals and even homosexuals as ‘soldiers’. But it is not a cause to relax. Under the leadership of the Communist party our warriors are ready to stop this criminal gang and to defend the ideals of socialism, our allies and friends.

Nice to see the OP giving the voters 7 options - much more than his fellow countrymen used to get!

It beggars belief that a General could utter such nonsense. Either Sheehan is having a belated St Paddy's Day drink, or he's lost the plot.

The Dutch soldiers were under UN control, and were ordered out by the Secretariat in New York. The fall of Srebrenica had diddly squat to do with Dutch soldiers be they gay, straight or undecided. It had everything to do with the ineptitude and negligence of the worlds politicians.
