I think you may have become slightly confused about which political factions are likely to throw a tantrum about HMQs visit.
Imagine Ian Paisley's voice...I know it is unpleasant but you'll see why in a minute...

"This visit gives legitimacy to the friends of republicanism, undermining the solid work of generations of loyal subjects...blah-blah..." Well you get the impression.

    Yes.

    Unfortunately.

I believe it would be a good opportunity to show that we're a civilised nation in that we greet Aunt Betty with the courtesy and respect shown to the Ingerland Rugby team when they played at Croke Park for the first time. Of course, certain folks won't be able to pass up the chance of a good whinge, for whatever reason, but on the whole it could turn out to be a positive affair.

"...whereas we have shown our loyalty to the Crown by throwing petrol bombs and rocks at Her Majesty's Armed & Police Forces; planting bombs in Her Majesty's streets; and murdering Her Majesty's subjects.

This is how we show our Loyalty. No Surrender! God Save the Queen!"
ARRSE - Not as funny as it used to be since 2003.

Ah Captain Plume...or should I say Declan O'Plume?!

Sadly it is ALL so predictable. It would be like shooting fish in a tiny barrel to make this stuff up, yet we don't really need to make it up. Time for all humanity to leap into the seas and leave the world to the mountain goats who inhabit Turkey...they cannot possibly make a worse fist of it...

I can imagine it, but I still find it highly unlikely. I don't remember it being an issue for the DUP when a visit to Dublin by HMQ was last spoken about (2007?).

What I can imagine is RSF, Eirigi, etc 'actively opposing' (ie rioting) during the visit as they have already said that is what they will do.

That's why I was a bit surprised about you mentioning a Unionist/Loyalist cockstand.
The Provisional IRA has largely disarmed, though it prides itself on being an undefeated army: yet here the Shinners will see the British army marching through the streets of Belfast, thereby reminding people what an undefeated army really looks like, and worse, how utterly pointless the IRA war really was.
