    Now THAT'S a landslide!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8517378.stm

I hope everyone was evacuated in time and safe.
There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And there are those that say: this glass is half empty.
The world belongs, however to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!'

Certainly not something I'd like! Brings a whole new meaning to such phrases as: "Did the earth move for you and moving house!"
"I'd rather be a tired old Has been, than a tired old Never Has Been!!"
"If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

That's just the tail end of it. If you have a look at Liveleak you'll note it goes on for a whole lot longer.

    It's rather severe.

I thought it was only in Austria that "the hills are alive." Somebody wrote a song about it, I'm sure...
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.

In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.
