    Nice chat with the Taliban

Not quite. Mullah Zaeef didn't show up: I guess it's a visa thing...

But I went to an awfully interesting talk with, inter alia, the only two western journalists living in Kandahar about AFG and the way forward, if there is one.

Intersting thing that fell out of the talk: remember the polls saying 'Afghans have hope, post the election'? They're friends with the Afghan pollster who invented the results and entered it on a spreadsheet without ever leaving his fortified basement...

    Video here: http://frontlineclub.com/events/2010...e-taliban.html

    It's honestly well worth watching.
"However proletarian and semiliterate he may have been, the English soldier, well nourished with meat and beer, stimulated with gin, and convinced of his own racial superiority to the foreign rabble he had to face, was a magnificent combatant, as anyone who has ever seen hooligans in action at a soccer match can readily imagine."

Mulla Zaeef apparently attended this event instead, interesting VT though.
