    Eric Joyce banned from Shriv

He says on his blog that a defence minister stopped him from speaking at Shrivenham. I didn't even know that ministers could do that.

Neither did I...never mind ministers, the freedom of speech I personally fought to maintain implied that a one-legged, bastard, Rastafarian communist could denounce anti-semitic Polish nationalists through the medium of expressive dance, should they so desire. I don't think anyone on here saw their military contribution to the preservation of democracy as intended to give these censorship powers to Neue Arbeit. How wrong we were.

Persona;ly, having experienced Major Joyce at a Fabian Society meeting - I was attending not a member! -they should just let him speak, that would be far more beneficial than banning him!

Ah - reading between the lines, it seems that it wasn't Major Joyce's freedom of speech and maverick views that were the issue. The debate was meant to be Labour policy champion versus vicious Tory weasel!
