Yeah, because twentysomething Samantha from Surrey with her Degree in 'Child Care' and such meaningful life experiences as competing at the local Gymkhana and chatting with her Nanny is so aware of the reality of life on a tough council estate.
What - the one that covers sociology, child psychology, child raising, nutritional development, early years education, primary and secondary legislation in child care. The one that is supported by CPD, back up, senior support staff and a wealth of resources?

Yeah - probably, you c0ck. What else do you suggest - if any of the kids start to look like they might be bent send them to old Mr Morris down the road - he'll show them the errors of their ways when he abuses them? Are you a real person or a pastiche of stupidity put together from right wing diatribes?

So what part of your upbringing prepared you for duties in Afghanistan? Samantha from Surrey would learn her trade by working in the Council Estate just as soldiers really learn their trade on the battlefield.

I was chatting with a primary school teacher who does interfere with lunchboxes. Apparently not all of them though. He has a couple of pupils who get high as kites on a cheap fruit juice (sorry can't remember the brand). He has spoken to both Mothers who both said they could do nothing because their kids liked it (well, what can you do?). He now routinely raids their lunchboxes and removes the juice, he gives it back to them about 5 minutes before the end of the day and they always sit their with big grins glugging it down. After all, he says, why not let the mothers have the benefit instead of him.
I LIKE HIS STYLE! It could only be made better by his buying some more of the stuff so he can make sure they go home really overdosed...

PS If a certain local education authority up north was not already aware of the admissions procedure adopted by one of their schools........ they are now.

    Gentlemen.....

There is merit is each of your comments. I can see where Semper is coming from. As a teacher trying to cope with children severely damaged physically and emotionally by their parents I have had my share of dealings with Social Services. Some are indeed Samantha from Surrey. They do have to learn their craft on the job, and it requires support, further training, and close supervision from established and experienced social workers.

Part of the problem is that their workload can be incredibly excessive, and so the time needed on each case just isn't there. They sometimes don't get the support they need, and when it all goes so terribly wrong, they get the blame.

Please don't underestimate what they have to cope with. Some of the things I have had to deal with, working with social services and the child have been quite terrible. Most of you would weep at the detailed descriptions of abuse....

IMHO we need fewer teacher, social workers, police officers, local government officers, intervention workers, facillitators.................and we need to employ many more prison officers. If someone has no alternative then doing as we ask is a piece of p*ss. If they have alternatives then there is nothing this army of state employees can do. Apparently the average prison place is cheaper than we thought - £26,000 - but saves £280,000 in losses through criminal activity. We solve all our problems the day we say, "Comply or defy, your choice. The latter sees you locked up with f*ck all. I'm not going to argue with you. Do it now or get locked up indefinitely".

"This child had a meal with them which was dangerously high in salt. This is the third time I've had to say this. The child is not your toy he is our future citizen. You'll do this one more time and we lock you up. No argument, I don't give a sh*t what you think you can or can't manage, whose fault it might or might not be that you are not Nigella Lawson, just do it".

Does anyone honestly think that decency is so impenetrable that most couldn't manage it?

    Who will process them?

For that matter, who will drive them to the court/prison/arrest them etc?

This has to be a wah. You are basically saying that Josef Stalin had the right idea when it came to social engineering - and that we should have incredibly limited freedoms.

Without the teachers, social workers, policemen etc. - who is going to catch all these people to end up in prison? Do we start imprisoning on the basis of tip-offs? Maybe we just cut straight to having gauleiters?

Really - this is a weak wah.

    It's not, it's a great idea.

Maybe we could utilze offenders/non-compliers to provide us with electricity, too.
